Turn The Page

After reading what was on the screen I could barely even stand up, it said that she had done basically the same thing Evan had did back when he was free and out in the open, she was like him all over again, only difference is that her target was celebrities; In black and white it said that she had tried many time to cheat celebrities out of there money, but most of them were just well known people in towns and counties not big celebrities like Michael and I. This was something I had to tell Tom as I got home, but I knew it was also something I had to tell Michael also. I hated having to be the one who had to tell him something that I knew was going to upset him. And yet, being his wife and someone people knew he trusted i had to do those things. I sat back down in the chair and sighed."Can't you get a copy of that without getting into any trouble?"I asked, not even making eye contact with her.

"Well, yeah, I'm a lawyer, that's one of the best parts about it."She said as she began working on it.

"I want you to hold on to that until I'm sure we're going to need it."I said. I didn't want to put that in filing cabinet in risk of have police officers coming to the ranch and searching the ranch, It wasn't accurate that that would happen but by the looks of things I had a feeling that it would. And I knew that they could hold that against Michael if he ever went to court. Then I remembered that they wouldn't have a warrant to search my office, but something deep down inside of me told me I was wrong.

The printer roared as it began printing out the pieces of paper. Kiara had her Manila folder all ready so she could put it in. It was quiet. I mindlessly watched the paper print out and fall into Kiara's hands. When it finished she stacked the papers neatly and placed it in the folder then opened a drawer and placed it inside there."There it should be safe here, but when is the next time you'll be seeing that woman?"She asked.

I shrugged."Probably not until we know what's going to happen, the case is still under investigation and it probably wont be until we actually find out if they really accuse Michael of this."I explained."The possibilities vary."

She nodded her head."I see."

"I'm just worried about the kids they don't need to know what's going on, they shouldn't even be aware of it, but Alyssa is entirely to smart to not let that happen, she thinks exactly like I did when I was her age and when I tell her that nothing is going on she probably think, "I cleared my throat and made my voice sound like her bell tone voice." ' Mom must think I'm to young, naive, and stupid to know that she's acting weird, well I'm not, and I'm not gonna let her think that' "

Kiara laughed."A nine year old using the word naive?"She asked.

I nodded."The girl has her on little dictionary of words that I don't even use and I'm damn there in my late forties."

She laughed."Well what about Rashad he's a teenager and he should know something isn't right."

I shook my."Rashad wouldn't care, he's basically in his own little world most of the time, don't pay attention to anything or anybody. You know how teenagers are."

"Your right."She said.

I sighed and bit my bottom lip."But mostly I'm worried about Michael, you remember what happened to him the last time with the drugs and everything, he was not himself at all. And Tom says that these allegations are worst then the ones back in 1993."

"What are the charges?"

I winced but kept my poker face on."They claim that Michael gave the kids alcohol, and s lot of other things....I'd...whether....not say."

"Is the shit that bad?"She asked.

I nodded."Yeah it is."

She sighed and picked up her pen and grabbed her notebook."Poor Michael. Tell him I said I'm sorry."she said, for once in her life she was actually being insensitive."But if that was me I'll have her ass licking the gum from the bottom of my shoe if she thought she was going to put me through hell trying to go through another set of charges for something I didn't do, that kid wasn't even that good looking, the only thing he got going for him is a ticket to comedy channel!"She said the shook her head."Don't make no damn sense, I swear, that is agangst the law! Society is a bitch!!!"
