Alyssa's POV
"What, he has no right, I am not about to bring my kids into this mess!" My mother had just gotten home from being in the hospital for two days and her face was already beet red and her blood pressure was already rising. Daddy pushed her down in the chair softly and began massaging her shoulders.
" Actually, Kiara told me that whatever evidence or witness that is out there is required to step foot on the stand and testify whether its against or not." Aunt Keisha said.
Mom shook her head. " I don't care, its not necessary, Michael is innocent and the kids does not need to brought into this they're way too young, Lyssa is already suspecting something and its not a matter of time that she actually finds out what's going on."
" We understand all that Aaliyah but, I think they're our only chance." Aunt Keisha said softly.
The room fell silent and I knew that my mom was looking at her like she was crazy." What do you mean their our only chance? " she asked with an attitude. " Their kids and they don't have anything to do with this."
Aunt Keisha sighed." Aaliyah Sweetheart, use you head and think, Michael is being charged with molesting a child, if the kids goes up there and tell the jury what kind of a person Michael is as a father then there's a bigger chance might win."
Mom sat back in the chair shaking her head." I'm sorry but i just cant go through with this, Keisha. "
" What are you afraid of, Liyah." Daddy asked.
" Im not afraid of anything."
" Yes you are, its all in your voice." He spoke softly and soothingly, almost as if he was comforting her.
She didn't answer at first, but then she let out a sigh." They're not going to understand, they're too young to understand. "
" How do you know they're not going to understand?" Keisha asked.
" And what would they not understand?" Michael asked.
" The fact that your being charged with having sex with a minor! " She exploded." Isn't! it obvious, they don't even know what that is, have you ever heard of a parent telling a ten year old about sex? "
" Liyah, calm down please." Daddy said. I guess he new her blood pressure was rising too.
" How can I calm down, Michael? " she asked." Huh how, do you know what they are gonna think if they have to sit in there and there is some random ass person asking them questions? "
" You have a point, Aaliyah but This maybe our only choice we have-"
"Look, I'm sorry but I'm not letting them bring them in for questioning, I'm their mother and I say no." She said as stood up. I knew she was coming so I ran and hid behind the stairs as she stormed up the steps I listened as she made her way into the room slamming the door. Sometimes my mother could a little too dramatic.
" Aren't you gonna go after her? " Star asked she sounded so concerned..
I heard daddy let out a sigh." Just give her time to cool down, we don't want her blood pressure rising any higher then it is right now."
" Why do you think she was acting like that, I've never seen her act like that before." Rashad asked.
" I don't know, " Daddy replied casually. " But I can tell by the look in her eyes that she's hiding something."
" Something like what? " Aunt Keisha asked almost in a whisper.
" I don't. know, probably something that has to do with her mother. You never know Aaliyah likes to hide a lot of things she only speaks her mind when she feels its safe, whatever it is it's probably something that she she either forgot or it had left her mind and just reentered it."
" Well her mothers death has had a lot of impact on her life.",
" I know so that's probably why she doesn't want them to testify."
" Do you want them to? "
The room fell silent and suddenly the doorbell ranged. Daddy stood up and walked out of the kitchen and to the front if the house where I was, he moved into more behind the stair case so that I couldn't be seen.
Daddy opened the door and a man with a black tuxedo on he held up a badge in his face." I'm detective Carter, I would like to ask your children some questions. "
