Y/N's POV
"So let me get this straight." Amanda starts, "You guys went to Ava Paige's city to save him." She points at Minho as we all sit on her couches. "You helped them get into the city and your group is actually the one who released the cranks in the city." Amanda mentions pointing at Gally. "So when you saved him, your group sailed to a deserted island to start new civilization away from Wicked." Amanda continues. "So you sailed back here in hope to find people who aren't Wicked to make the antiviral and spread it around the world. And this little 6 year old stowed away on your ship?" She finishes as we all look at one another. "Yep." Thomas says. "That sounds about right." Gally adds. Amanda stands in front of us speechless like she has no words. "Y/N. Can I talk to you in private?" Amanda questions in front of everyone. "Sure." I agree standing up as Amanda walks into a different part of her penthouse. Suddenly someone grabs my arm. "Y/N." I turn around to see Aris standing there. "You don't even know her. One of us should come with you." He mentions as Gally stands up. "Aris is right. I don't feel comfortable with you being alone with her." Gally admits as the rest of the group nods in agreement. "I know this seems bad, but it could be worse. We could be locked up in a cell. Starving, dying. She's trusted us into her home even thought she's heard the rumors about what we did to Ava's city. The least we can do is trust her." I argue as no one says anything. Gally pulls the pistol out of the back of his pants. "Gally..." I start when he interrupts me, "Just take it Y/N. It will ease our nerves." I stare into his green eyes. I take the weapon from him sticking it in the back of my pants. The rest of the group exhales in relief. "I will be right back." I reassure walking in the direction Amanda went.
I am led into a brightly lit up kitchen. Beautiful white marble countertops, a long dining table, a gorgeous modern look, crosses along the wall. "Wow." I say aloud as I see Amanda smiling. "I seriously cannot believe you are here... all of my prayers have been answered." She informs seeming as happy as ever. "You wanted to speak with me privately?" I question gliding my fingers along her cold countertops. "Yes." She starts, "I wanted to show you something... follow me." Amanda starts to walk towards her dining table taking a left into a long hallway. Without hesitation, I follow the beautiful woman. The corridor is long, paint chipping off the wall. It seems like this hallway wasn't originally here. As we walk down the corridor, the smell of strong bleach overtakes my senses. It smells as if a cart of cleaning supplies tipped over. Suddenly, Amanda comes to a stop turning to her right starring into a window of another room. I rotate my body as she did looking into the same room. A girl, looking to be about Violet's age, lays on a hospital bed connected to machines. The room is a typical hospital room. A small decontamination room after the door. The little girl starts to cough uncontrollably with tear stains and bags around her eyes. "She's infected." I assume as in my peripheral I see Amanda nod. "We found out yesterday evening. It doesn't appear that she's immune. She's the first to be infected in over a year." Amanda informs continuing to stare at the child. "Is she?" I start off as she finishes my sentence, "She's my daughter." My heart aches for this woman. "Amanda... I can cure her." I say turning to the woman. "Does anyone in your city know how to make the antiviral?" I question as she nods. "My head doctor knows how, but." She stops as my hope fades. Of course there's a but. "We don't have the materials to make it. The equipment. And there's only one place I can think of close enough that does." Amanda mentions. "Okay! Then we can ask to borrow some!" I excitedly suggest as Amanda shakes her head. "Y/N... you don't get it. It's Wicked. Their city." Her words are clear, yet I wish they weren't. "What?" I question my eyebrows furrowed. "We destroyed Wicked. Ava Paige is...dead." I argue as her expression changes to something I can't explain. "Oh sweetheart... Ava was in charge of her region. It just so happens the main Wicked city... the people who control Wicked... is 30 miles from here. Wicked isn't only one faculty. They're all over the world. The Wicked faculties all around the world are controlled by one ginormous city, and that's the city 30 miles from here." Amanda explains as my heart drops into my chest. Wicked is so much bigger than I thought. "It's almost as if the main Wicked faculty 30 miles from here is the bees nest. The gold mine. The..." She starts as I finish off with a familiar saying, "The lions den." I watch as Amanda nods. This can't be possible. I thought Wicked was distorted after Ava Paige was killed. Apparently she is just another puppet. "Mason is his name." Amanda states as my eyebrows furrow. She sees my expression resulting in her explaining in more detail. "The man who is in control of all of Wicked. The leader. His name is Mason." She rephrases as my mind tries to comprehend all of the new information. "So you can't help us?" I ask already knowing the answer. She has someone to make the cure, but no resources to create it. Amanda grows very quiet. All I can here is the pitiful sound of her daughter coughing. "I have an idea!" She jumps up as my eyes fall back on her with hope. "Recruiting Day!" Amanda shouts and continues, "It's perfect!" Her voice has so much excitement in her British tone. "Woah! Wait, slow down? Recru-what now?" I question as she takes a deep breath in. "Every year, Wicked puts on an annual Recruiting Day. It's a day that Wicked members go to each non-Wicked city and recruit people to work for them. They also check each city for their equipment... and they take anything they want. If you guys can get recruited for the job openings, you have a ticket into the city! When you're in there, you can find the materials needed to create the antiviral. Once you have everything, you come back here and we make your cure!" Amanda suggests as I feel such a great plan go to waste. "Amanda... we can't wait until this Recruiting Day. We don't have a year to do this. We need something faster." I inform as she smiles. "But that's just it Y/N. You guys came at exactly the right time! Recruiting day is in 3 days! Counting today." Amanda exclaims with pure excitement before I feel my face light up. "That's perfect! We get in and out of the city with that equipment, we make the cure!" I excitedly reword before realization hits me. "Wait. Amanda... I don't know if you noticed, but there are millions of Wicked wanted reports going around about me and my friends. Everyone knows my identity, so they're bound to know what I look like." I sigh as she laughs. "Oh you're worried about that? It just so happens that we settled in an area with an abandoned wig shop that still has all of its disguises. We can create whole new people out of you three." Amanda informs as hope once again restores itself inside my body. "You'd do all of this to help us?" I question as she smiles. "The world needs our help Y/N. I may not be willing to sacrifice an entire generation to find the cure, but I am willing to do everything in my power to revert the world back to the way it was. And if I can do anything to save my baby girl," she stops turning her head back to her young infected child, "then I will." All the sudden, an idea pops inside my head. "Amanda... we can help her, but I need to speak to my friends first." I explain as she nods. "Go! I'll be in there in a little. There is some business I need to take care of first." She suggests as I smile before walking in the direction of my friends. What if we can cure her daughter right here right now. I just have to see what the rest of the group thinks we should do.
"So? What do you think?" I question my friends after explaining to them everything Amanda told me. No one speaks for a moment. It's like everyone is still deciding. "You're telling me that Wicked is still out there? That Ava's city wasn't the only one?" Harriet summarizes. "Amanda said that there are faculties all over the world controlled by this city." I explain. "Y/N, we can't go back into another Wicked city... we barely made it out last time." Gally points out starring at me. "It's not a bad idea. If Amanda has good enough disguises, we could really pull this off." Minho encourages as I smile at his optimism. "It could work." Aris mentions looking over at Harriet. "It's a good plan." Thomas encourages nodding his head. "It's risky..." Gally says. I give him a glare as he laughs. "You didn't let me finish... It's risky, yes, but we're going to have to take a few risks." Gally smiles as I do. "So we're good with the plan?" I ask as everyone in the group nods their heads including little Violet. "One question though." Fry mentions as everyone turns their attention to him. "You said you were going to try to cure Amanda's daughter today... how?" Fry questions the part I was scared to talk about. "Right." I state taking a deep breath in. "This question is more for Thomas." I add as everyone turns their attention towards him. "Me?" Thomas asks. "Do you still have that vial of the antiviral that Teresa gave you?" I ask as he reaches into his pocket pulling out a glass tube with the blue substance inside. "You're wanting to use it on that little girl huh?" Minho asks the obvious. "Only if it's okay with Thomas." I mention as he stares down at the vial. "But what if one of us gets infected?" Gally blurts out, "We're going to need that cure." "But if we save Amanda's daughter, she'll want to help us even more." Sonya points out. "She already wants to help us." Gally argues. Before I say anything, Thomas starts to speak, "This was the last thing Teresa gave to me." My heart begins to sink. How could I do that to him. If anyone took the note Newt wrote for me, I'd never forgive them... "Okay," I start, "We'll just have to find another way to do this." Thomas immediately takes my hand and places the vial into my palm. "You didn't let me finish... This is the last thing Teresa gave to me, but she would have wanted us to use it to save someone's life." Thomas admits with a smile. He shuts my hand, "Y/N, we trust you. If you think it's the right thing to do, then I'll be right by your side." I start to smile. "We all will Y/N." Minho mentions as the rest nod their head. "Alright Y/N, I'm back. I'm sorry if I'm intruding." Amanda apologizes as we all turn towards her. "Actually Amanda, you're just in time." I smile. "In time for?" She questions with her British accent. I hold up the vial of the blue substance in front of me showing her. "Time that we cure your daughter." I say as her eyes widen. Instantly tears start to stream down her cheeks. "Is that?" She asks walking closer towards us. "Amanda... if you agree to help us create that cure when we get back from the city, we will cure your daughter right here right now." I offer and she starts to cry even more, falling to the ground. "Of course I will! If you cure my daughter, I will be forever in your debt." She cries. "Well then..." Minho starts, "We've got a little girl to save."
