The Maze Runner -Flare In Flames- |Newt X Reader|

Minho's POV
       Vince, Thomas, and others went out searching for Y/N. She's been gone ever since she ran into those trees... that was over 7 hours ago.
       Vince ordered Gally and I to stay here, just in case she came back. I should be out there looking for her. I'm the reason she's gone. Although they know she's missing, no one actually knows why. None of the people looking for her knows she ran away because I kissed her.
"Do you know what happened Minho? You were the last one she was with?" Gally questions as we both sit in the meeting room. My hand start to sweat as my leg bounces. "No I didn't do anything! I don't know what you're talking about!" My talking is sped up slightly because of the anxiety the situation has given me. "Minho? Why are you acting so anxious?" Gally interrogates. My speaking continues to be sped up, "What? Me? Anxious? I'm not anxious?!" I watch as Gally stares at me suspiciously. "Minho spill it. What happened?" The freckled boy sees right through my lies. "Okay fine..." I say in a calmer manner. "I kissed her." I finish. Silence fills the room around us before Gally bursts into laughter. The chuckling boy holds his stomach, but stops when he realizes I'm not laughing along. "Wait you're serious?" Gally questions with more interest this time. "Minho..." Gally says with empathy, "What happened?" I can't tell what the emotion is that I'm feeling. Sadness, anger, frustration... confusion. "She chased me out of the tent from Vince's meeting." I start off. "You mean after you blew up on Vince?" Gally mocks, but quickly stops when I glare at him. "She asked what was wrong, and then I kissed her." I inform as Gally nods his head. "Then she got all mad at me, like she doesn't feel the same way. And then I brought Newt into it, and she got even more upset-." I explain as Gally interrupts me, "Minho... you know how she felt about him." More anger starts to rise over me, "Can you just let me finish?!" The freckled boy shuts his shuck-face allowing me to continue my story. "Then she told me that she wasn't ready, and that I don't understand. So I asked her to explain to me what I don't understand." I continue, "That's when she blew up, telling me that she killed Newt. That she stabbed him because he was swinging at her. She blamed everything that happened on herself, and then took off." I finish as Gally nods at the entire situation. "So that's why she ran away, but I still don't understand why." I admit. Gally stands up from the chair he was sitting in. "Minho, let me try and help you understand." Gally offers as my eyes brows furrow. "You know why she doesn't feel the same way?" I question. "I have an idea on why she acted the way she did. You might want to sit down... we could be here a while." Gally suggests as I take the chair he was sitting in. The lanterns around start to glow brighter as the sun starts to go down. "My first explanation Minho is Newt. The most obvious answer." Gally starts off as I quietly listen to what he has to say. "Everyone knows how they felt about each other. Hell even when I reunited with everyone, I could tell they had a connection." The freckled boy begins. "She loved him Minho. Weather she admits it or not, she loved him. And she thinks she killed him... which both you and I know isn't true." He continues, "She told us Newt was in and out of consciousness while he was attacking her. It's obvious Newt turned the knife on himself so he wouldn't hurt her anymore. Newt cared deeply enough about her to know what had to be done. And he did it. As time went on, Y/N has made herself believe she killed him even though she knows what really happened." Gally explains. I can see how that happened. That is what Newt would have done. "But you know Y/N. She believes everything bad that has happened up to this point is her fault... and do you blame her?" He asks, "This leads to my second explanation. You and I don't remember anything from our past. Who are parents are... what happened before the Maze... who we were before the Maze. And I use to wish I knew. I use to wonder all the time who I was before those bastards sent us up in that box. But after I met Y/N, I never wanted to remember." Gally explains as I think for a second. I use to always wonder what it was like before. But he's right, after Y/N was injected with that serum, I never wanted to know. "Y/N didn't get the chance to choose weather she wanted to remember or not. Janson injected her with that serum anyway. And look at what it's done to her." Gally starts to get deeper into the subject. "She remembers Wicked shooting her grandmother right in front of her. She remembers her brother jumping off that building because she was too late. She remembers that her parents happen to be the main people of Wicked who put us in the Maze. She lost the boy she was in love with. And on top of all of that, she found out that she's the cure." He continues, "The person who can put a stop to all of this. The person who could have prevented everything." Gally stops for a second to take a breather. "So you wonder why she blames herself for everything? It's because she could have saved everyone who died from the Flare. If she knew she was the cure before, this would all be over. But instead she is here. She believes that everything is her fault, because of everything she's seen from her past. Because of what everyone has done to her. What she's been through." Gally continues. "Y/N is one of the strongest people I've ever met. Despite everything that has happened to her. Everything she's had to see, hear, feel. She hasn't given up." He stops talking to let it all sink into my mind. It all makes sense. She can't let go because she is still hurting. "Minho, she's not ready... and I don't know if she ever will be ready to let someone get as close as Newt was. But she needs you. She needs us all, and we have to be there for her." Gally finishes his speech as everything pieces together. I'm so dumb. She needs me, and I was just selfish. "We need to find her! I need to apologize." I announce to Gally. "Thanks Gally... you know, you are really good with advice! Besides... how did you know all of that stuff about her?" I say as he shrugs, "Let's just say she didn't just go to you with her problems. Go find her Minho. I'll be here in case she comes back." Excitement runs through my body as I dash out the tent flap. I have to find her. I have to apologize. I need her to know that no matter what... no matter any way that I feel, that I am here.
