Steve's POV
Once the jet was in the air, Natasha came over to join us. I decided that now would be a good time to go over our strategy. I gathered the group and started talking.
"I have looked at the plans and it seems to be some kind of underground warehouse. If we enter from the front as silently as possible, we should be able to infiltrate the building before they realize we are there. Then we can take out whoever is in our way and get to the leaders. Arrest them and bring them back to the jet." I informed but was interrupted.
"Yeah no. That's not going to work. These guys may not be much of a threat, but I doubt they are stupid. We are not getting in the front without them noticing. We should send a group in through the front to create a giant diversion, whilst the other team enters through the back, under the radar. We can sneak in and apprehend the leaders whilst the other team takes out anything in the way and meets us there. Then we gather information and blow the place." Nat instructed. Her plan made sense and we all nodded in agreeance.
"Right, that will work. So who is going on which team?" I asked, waiting for volunteers. Again, Natasha piped up, she had done this before.
"Tony, you have all of the flashy tech and big weapons, you can use them to create a great distraction. Steve, you should go with him. You have a shield for protection and can use it for hand-to-hand combat as well. Bruce, will hulk be making an appearance?" She asked and our attention was directed to Bruce.
"I can't be sure, but I would rather be a last resort than a first port of call. Once the Hulk comes out, he doesn't go away easily." Bruce nervously said.
"Fine, you stay at the jet and make sure that everything runs smoothly from back here. That leaves Clint and me to go through the back and gather information. Does that sound good?" Natasha asked. We all nodded in agreeance and she stood up, going back to her position in the pilot's chair.
"We will be landing in 5 minutes. Buckle up." Nat called out to us. We all hastily went back to our seats, eagerly awaiting the upcoming fight. I was confident about this mission. I knew we all had our strengths, Fury had recruited us all for a reason. As long as we played to our strengths we would be ok, or at least I hope so.
Bruce's POV
I had been allowed to stay back and keep an eye on everything from back here, something I was very glad about. Truth is, I was nervous as to how this was going to go. I work best when I know what is going on and exactly what to do. I knew nothing about these people and I wasn't about to go out there with them when I wasn't sure what was going on.
We touched down and everyone got up and gathered their weapons. I walked over to the computer, we had hooked up comms and Natasha hacked the warehouse cameras, so I would know exactly what was going on from back here.
I watched as they all walked out of the plane and into the grassy area below. Gunfire immediately rained down on them all and they quickly took cover. I could see from the front cameras that Tony and Steve had started fighting back, bullets and bombs zooming toward the enemy. I couldn't see Clint and Natasha yet which was a good thing because it meant that no one else knew they were there either.
But then two dark figures appeared on one of the back cameras, they were in. I watched search the cameras until I found what I was looking for, the room with the leaders in it. They weren't making any move to leave yet, but it would only be a matter of time.
"Clint and Natasha, they are in the room down the corridor to the left. Watch out, you have incoming." I informed as I spotted 5 soldiers heading their way. I watched nervously as each one was taken out and they continued.
Before I knew it they had the leaders apprehended and tied to a table, man they work fast.
"Steve, Tony? We have the leaders, are you close?" Clint asked through the comms. I checked their location, they were also nearing the room.
"Yeah, they are two doors away from you," I answered for them, guiding them towards each other. I saw Nat hastily hacking information and Tony started rigging up the bomb.
"Right, we have to get out of here, it's about to blow," Tony instructed right as Nat pulled out the flash drive from the laptop. They ran out of the building and I watched on, holding my breath. I watched them exit the building and I let out a breath. The ringing sound of an explosion echoed through the grassy plains as the warehouse gave out, creating a big crater in the ground.
Steve's POV
We dragged the leaders out of the warehouse as it blew up. All in all, the mission was a resounding success. Sure, we need to get to know each other and our fighting styles better, but the team seems to have a bright future. One that I look forward to.
As we re-entered the jet, I looked around at my teammates. They were all sweaty, dirty, and exhausted, but no one was injured which is always a good thing. We all piled back into our seats, tying the prisoners up at the back of the jet.
We started the journey home, with Nat flying. She got up once again when the plane stabilized and grabbed a laptop, furiously typing away for the rest of the trip trying to decode as much information as possible.
The rest of the team were all exhausted and couldn't even be bothered to try and help her, not that she probably have let them anyway. She strikes me as the person that loves to be strong and fully independent.
We touched down onto the Avengers tower roof. We all trudged off the jet, handing the prisoners over to Fury quickly and then heading straight for our rooms. I know for one, I don't even feel like dinner, I just want to shower and go to bed.
And that is exactly what I did.
