Nat's POV

"Let's go home sweetheart." Steve whispered as he pulled me gently off the bed. We both walked over and picked up a sleeping child each in our arms from the hospital crib. James stirred a little as we entered the reception of the hospital on our way out, but other than that, they were little angles the whole way home.

Clipping them into their matching baby car seats was a challenge! I can dismantle bombs in my sleep and fit into the smallest air ducts, but it took a whole new level of skill to manoeuvre myself and wrestle with a tiny baby and the car seat straps.

5 minutes later, Steve and I managed to get them strapped in safely, both standing up and panting.

"We need to get a bigger car." Steve wheezed as he got into the drivers seat.

"Agreed." I murmured as I lowered myself into the passenger seat. It was true, my sleek, low to the ground, black sports car was not the ideal car to have two babies in the backseat of. Especially when Steve is as tall as he is.

"We'll talk to Tony about it tonight once we have put the twins to sleep." Steve agreed as we drove home.

*Time skip to that night*

Put the twins to sleep.

Yeah right.

It's been a comedy of errors.

In fact, I know people that would pay to watch our disastrous first attempts at parenting.

First, there was the whole changing clothes debacle. Not even kidding. I thought that getting Sophie and James in a car seat was hard. It has nothing on changing.

They're like little Houdini's! Changing clothes and nappy's was a two person job!

Once that was done, I had to feed them and put them to bed. Feeding is weird, but not too much of an issue, however, putting them both to sleep was another thing entirely.

I have to hand it to the twins, they are in perfect sync with their sleep cycles. A sleep cycle that I have now named 'let's make sure mummy gets absolutely no sleep'

It starts with Sophie waking up and demanding a feed. Half an hour later she falls back to sleep and I put her in the bassinette. The second that I put Sophie down, James wakes up and demands a feed. Half an hour later, James falls asleep and Sophie wakes up again.

And that's how it continued.

All

night

long.

And yet despite everything that has happened, I don't think I could love anyone more than I love my two little miracles.
