I watched as Bee scored another victory on the Hypixel minigames server. Her phone number was on my screen, but I hesitated to press call. Anxieties filled my stomach. Alex was watching her stream too, messaging me as I waited for the right time.
Alex:
There's never a right time, dumbass
Just do it
Me:
There's always a right time
Alex:
She's literally gonna end the stream and then you'll have missed your chance

Me:
yeah i read it last night
it was good
kinda embarrassing
Alex:

I can almost guarantee that Vertigo Nick would be just as much of a pussy as I am rn

Finally, I got over myself and hit the call button. I watched as her face lit up with excitement.
"Ooh, Sapnap is finally calling me after ghosting me all day. What does he have to say?" She teased, holding the phone up to her webcam. Come on, Bee, just answer the damn phone.
I pressed my phone to my ear, shaking.
She answered.
"Hello?"
"Hey," I let out a breath. "What're you doing?"
"Just streaming some Hypixel. Why?" I saw her glance to her webcam. I wondered if she knew I was watching. Then I started wondering if I was overreacting. Then I started wondering if I was overreacting about overreacting. Then--
"Hello? You there?"
"Yeah, I'm here. Just a bit tired." Christ, what was I doing?
"Mhm, I can tell. You're always tired when you call me. Are you having an affair?" Bee teased, going back to her game, phone pressed between her shoulder and ear.
"Oh, shut up."
"Make me,"
Silence fell over us. Her lip curled into a mischievous smirk, and I was struck with a sort of shock I wasn't expecting.
I tried to pull myself together.
"Damn it, Bee, I'm trying to flirt with you. Stop ruining it." I mutter. Her eye twitches a little, a little bit of heat rushing to her face.
"You're...what?"
"Mhm." I swallow a lump in my throat. My nerves have temporarily subsided. "Whenever I see you, whenever we talk, whenever I hear your voice, I wish I was there. I'm hours away but don't think for a second that I wouldn't drive there in a fucking heartbeat to be there with you. You fill my mind."
I watch as she reaches over and mutes her mic. The chat sped by. I wondered if they thought we were arguing or not.
"My stray thoughts are of you. Everyday, it's you. And it's been you. And it'll always be you. A-and...I don't care if you hate me. All that you are is all I'll ever need," I whispered.
"...if I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it," Bee completed the quote from Vertigo. Had she read it? She must have. "And I forgave the world because it had you."
I fell silent for a while and hung my head. I listened to the gentle pings and dings of the chat donating or gifting subs. It was all that filled my room as we sat silently on call.
"I'll call you later," She finally affirmed. The sound of her hanging up replaced the dings. She unmuted and began right where she'd left off, although her voice was a little more shaky now.
I left her stream and wished I'd said something else. Alex started to message me.
Alex:
Well? What did you say?? Clearly something happened
Me:
I don't want to talk about it until she calls me back
after the stream

i feel sick now
Alex:
did you stop watching?
Me:
yeah
what, was I supposed to keep watching?
i felt like a creep
Alex:
idk man, but whatever you said distracted the fuck out of her
she keeps dying
so either you royally upset her or wooed her to the high heavens

Alex:

I go on for like two seconds and already see theories
she hasn't even stopped her stream yet

What's happening?
Alex:
A lot of people are saying that when she was muted she repeated something from the fic
like it's already been clipped
it's going on TikTok as we speak I bet
Me:
