"It's complicated" Levi x Badass reader

(Chapter 25) By the shore

I rolled my eyes and put the note on the side cabinet when I walked in. I plopped down on my silky bed and layed peacefully for a bit. Training was in twenty minutes so I had time to relax.
My window was open and the tranquil noises of the birds and nature outside echoed around the room. I took deep breaths of cool, fresh air into my lungs and and layed calm and carefree.

It was time for training and I was outside with the others while we waited for Levi or someone to tell us what to do.
Eren and Armin walked over to me as the sun peeked out from the clouds.

"Hey Y/n." Armin said.

"Hey." I said lightheartedly.

They stood beside me while we watched Levi come out of HQ with Hanji, who looked excited as usual. She was waving her arms around and ruffling his hair while he tried immensely hard not to kill her. I tried to hold in my laugh and so did Eren and Armin.

"Alright cadets! 20 laps! 30 push ups! And then 40 sit ups!" He yelled frustrated as usual.

I rolled my eyes and went over to the others to start laps. It was tiering and everyone's mind was mainly on the ball tomorrow so not everyone was focused. Eren accidentally ran into a post, probably thinking about Petra. Me and Armin wheezed and laughed at him as he rubbed his nose frustrated.

It took ages for everyone to finish the pushups and sit ups, by the end of it everyone looked dead. I was panting and chugged down multiple bottles of water beside Armin.
Across the field I could see Levi watching me drinking, I knew he was probably thinking something dirty like always since he seemed to have zoned out completely.

He noticed me looking at him and I seductively winked at him while I drank the last few drops. I saw him scoff and smirk, then walk over to some cadets and yell at them for being to slow or for slacking. You chuckled victoriously at the sight of him being a bit flustered.
Me and my friends chatted and sat down to cool off while everyone else finished their last sit up or so. We were sitting on a bench in the shade, watching Levi aggressively yell at a guy for taking too long. He looked like he was about to shit himself. I could help but giggle at the sight.

At the end of training, Levi gathered us around him.

"Alright idiots, I know you're all aware of the ball tomorrow, which means there will be no training." He said sternly.

Everyone sighed in relief and wiped the sweat off their foreheads.

"But don't think you'll be let off! If any of you shitheads decide to do something stupid at the ball, you'll be taken out immediately. . . by me." He said.

After training we ate dinner in the mess hall and had a great time. We were all laughing, getting scolded by Levi for being too loud many times, talking about the ball, about deep stuff. Eventually, we all decided to leave and go to the small shore by the river that had a small campfire.

"You guys are going to the campfire?!?! Awesome! I'm coming too!" Hanji squealed excitedly, linking arms with me.

Levi stood quietly to the side.

"Come on Heichou! You knowwww you want to come!" She said teasingly.

"Tch, no." He said irritated.

I gave him a small 'look' that meant 'don't be a dick'.
He mildly rolled his eyes before walking off.

"I'll take that as a maybe!" Hanji yelled.

We all walked down to the shore and watched the sunset together on the sand. Hanji was moving her toes around in the sand and giggling and the others looked tired as they admired the sky. Armin and Eren rested their heads on my shoulder and Sasha and Connie were wrapped up in a blanket beside us.
We all gazed at the colourful sky in awe.

The sun began to lower and we watched the final peek of sunlight graze over the clouds in the distance.
Behind me, I heard a small rustle of someone walking.

"Levi!" Hanji said excitedly as he brushed off his coat and sat beside me and her.
I looked at him thankfully as his gaze said 'your welcome' and he looked into the distance with us.

The sounds of the waves and crickets filled the atmosphere as we looked at the breathtaking stars in the sky.

"H- hey guys?" Armin said hesitantly.

"Mm?" I responded as we all listened to him.

"I- I just wanted to say, t- thank you." He said.

We were all quiet while we watched the stars together.

"For what?" Eren whispered.

"For being here, for being who you are." He said genuinely.

We turned to him, a bit taken back from his sudden heartwarming statement.

"Yeah, Ive also kind of wanted to say that for a while too." Mikasa said plainly.

"I think with all the chaos, it takes a minute to appreciate the company we all give each other." Armin said as we all silently agreed.

Levi was still staring at the small waves.

" *sniff* I- I love you guys *sniff*." Connie said sadly, tearing up.

"Awe Connie! Now you're gonna make me cryyyy!" Sasha said, nudging him.

We chuckled, but deep down, we did all love each other.

" I love you guys, even if I hate to admit it, you are my family." I said as Levi quietly turned his focus to me and so did the others.

"Awe you guys already know I love you!!!" Hanji said, wrapping her arms around as many of us as possible, like a protective mother.

Levi tried to avoid it, but I knew he saw us all as family. Even if he never said it, he loved them, like a father with his kids. Even if he saw me differently, and loved me differently, I was his family.
And I loved him so much, and I always will.

I found myself staring at him, which made him smile slightly, not enough so that everyone else could notice.
I gently layed my head in his shoulder but everyone was too tired to notice.

We sat together for a bit longer before sleepily walking back to HQ.
Nobody noticed me holding Levi's hand as we walked behind everyone else. His hand was warm and firm, and way bigger than mine.

Everyone said goodnight, Hanji made sure to hug every one of us, even Levi, which he just let happen. I giggled at the fact that he's just accepted it.

After everyone had gone to their rooms, me and Levi went back to his office.

"Sleep." He said, putting some documents in his desk.

"I'm not tired enough." I said.

He walked over to me, holding my face and pretending to inspect me.

"Yes you are, put some of my clothes on and go to bed, I'll be there in a few minutes ." He said, kissing my forehead.

I put his large, clean shirt on and some shorts and climbed into his already made bed. I curled up in his blankets and waited for him.
Several noises came from the other room before he came in and closed the curtains.

He yawned and climbed into bed next to me.

"You know, I thought you never used to sleep." I said.

" I didn't." He said, making sure I was comfortable.

"So what changed?" I asked.

"You're here." He whispered, moving the hair from my face.

"You being here beside me, helps me rest." He said, putting his arm around me.

He kissed my neck softly before burying his head in my neck and making gentle circles with him thumb on my stomach.

I yawned and fell asleep in his arms, excited for the ball the next day.
