She opened up and I asked about the things I've been hearing

She said, "I think your ears are playing tricks on you"

Sweater zipped up to her chin

"Thanks for caring, sir, that's nice of you

But I have to go back in

Wish I could tell you about the noise

But I didn't hear a thing"

She said, "It must have been the wind, must have been the wind

Must have been the wind, it must have been the wind"

She said, "It must have been the wind, must have been the wind

Must have been the wind, it must have been the wind"

Lights started floating out of the ground again. It was a bit different this time, different colors started dancing around me and I could see people start taking out their scrolls, probably to post this on penstagram or something. Some people had glossy eyes, probably understanding the situation in this song.

"So I was layin' on the floor of my room

Cold concrete on my back

No, I just couldn't shake the feeling

I didn't want to intrude 'cause I knew that I didn't have all the facts

But I couldn't bear the thought of leavin' her

So I took the elevator to the second floor

Walked down the hall and then I knocked upon her door

She opened up and I asked about the things I've been hearing

She said, "I think your ears are playing tricks on you"

Sweater zipped up to her chin

"Thanks for caring, sir, that's nice of you

But I have to go back in

Wish I could tell you about the noise

But I didn't hear a thing"

She said, "It must have been the wind, must have been the wind

Must have been the wind, it must have been the wind"

She said, "It must have been the wind, must have been the wind

Must have been the wind, it must have been the wind"

The twins came up to me and created a halo-like glow around me before taking a selfie with me winking at them in the background and then going back to their spot. I just shake my head and smirk while singing.

Aim my boombox at the roof, I'm playing "Lean on Me"

Just so that she knows that she can lean on me

And when she hears the words, I hope she knows she'll be okay

Aim my boombox at the roof, I'm playing "Lean on Me"

Just so that she knows that she can lean on me

And when she hears the words, I know exactly what I'll say

Promise I'm not playing tricks on you

You're always welcome to come in

You could stay here for an hour or two

If you ever need a friend

We can talk about the noise, when you're ready,

but 'til then

I'll say, "It must have been the wind, must have been the wind

Must have been the wind, it must have been the wind"

I'll say, "It must have been the wind, must have been the wind

Must have been the wind, it must have been the wind"

I give one last strum before everything starts to fade and the crowd around me cheers louder than yesterday. I see a small body pushing through the front. It was Braxus, the small kid that's part of Amity's reading group. He plops out and comes rushing towards me and hugs my legs. I chuckle at this and pat his head.

"That was really pretty miss." He says in his deceptively deep voice. I pat his head and soften the look in my eyes, because only my eyes can really be seen.

"Thanks kid, i'm glad you liked it." He smiles and squeezes a little bit before running back into the crowd, probably to his parents or something. The crowd starts to disperse and king starts talking again.

"Well, I can definitely see why we got stared at." I blush at this and chuckle a little bit.

"That's something i guess." Was all I could get out before a familiar face pops into view.

"Hello there~" Emira, half the prank twins, gives me a flirty smile before Edric decides to lean on my shoulder and wink at me.

"The infamous Blight twins, what can I do for you?" I let a deeper tone deep into my voice. I don't have a reason for it, I just thought what the heck, why not. They smirked at each other before steering me towards the woods, probably trying to lead me somewhere.

"See, our little sister's birthday is coming up." Edric starts leaving king to catch up. I pause for a minute, interrupting them.

"I'll meet you back at home King, tell Eda I might be a little late." He huffs at me.

"Fine but if you get eaten I'm not helping you!" He runs off to the owl house. I roll my eyes before stuffing my hands in my pockets.

"Continue." They raise an eyebrow at me before shrugging.

"Well, our mom wanted us to get the best entertainment.." Emira explains.

"But we couldn't find anyone good enough for our baby sis." Edric continues.

"At least, that was until we saw your performance yesterday." We come into view of Blight Manor.

"What would you say..." oh they're doing the twin sentence thing.

"If we asked you to play at our sister's birthday?" They looked very hopeful and gave me puppy dog eyes. I can't resist those. Ever. So instead I sigh.

"How much are we talking?" They smile at each other before Edric pushes me towards the gates.
