The rest of the week went by smoothly, Hazel had settled in well, and was finding her own footing here. She played a lot of video games with Jimin and JK. Hobi and Lily had told Hazel about Elle, and it tugged at my heart, seeing Hazel visually upset by the story. She had managed the barrier with Lily on the second day, which she was very pleased with.

She was taken in under all of our wings, we were all wary of making sure she settled in well. On Saturday morning, Tae and I were called into the Commanders Office. It gave Tae the excuse to pick up my hand and kiss my knuckles as we went down the hallway, free of eyes.

"Morning guys," the Commander said, letting us sit down, "you are both going to Caligo, this afternoon"

Tae done a long inhale, while I rose my eyebrows.

"The Queen has requested an audience with the both of you, I assume for the same reason as the King done so. She might just want to hear the story herself, but it's ok" Commander Asher said, nodding his head at the end.

"Sir, please let them know that Verity will have her scent under barrier, because it's too dangerous without one in Caligo" Tae breathed out. I could see him tensing, I knew he didn't like this.

The Commander nodded, "I will do. Your Mother asked if you wanted support, or if you were going to come on your own"

I glanced over to to Tae, as he was shaking his head, "I know the way"

"Have fun" The Commander smiled over at Tae.

Tae rolled his eyes, "it's always a pleasure seeing my Mother"

The Commander stifled a smile, and looked back down at his laptop, "by there by three, ok? You know where the cars are, and be careful. Just because there are less Haunters, doesn't mean they aren't out there"

I nodded.

As Tae shut the office door behind him, he took my hand as we walked.

"The Queen doesn't want to meet you. My Mother does" he breathed out.

"What? Why?" I muttered, confused.

"She's on the Queen's high council. And most likely wants to use the excuse to scold me for killing a Fairy, and to meet you. Some Vampires could not handle having a Fairy as a partner, let alone the opposite sex. She's interested to see I've controlled myself" Tae breathed out, as we paused at the end of the hallway.

I rose my eyebrows, "that's strange. I know I don't have a Mother, but even that doesn't sound right to me"

Tae softly scoffed, rolling his eyes, letting me know he was agreeing with me.

"Just never leave my side, ok?" Tae breathed out as we starting to walk again.

"Never" I smiled at him gently as he glanced down at me.

The other members of our group were surprised to hear that we were going to Caligo, and it seemed that the Vampires of the group wary of it.

"Veri, just don't leave Tay" Jin muttered, as Yoongi nodded with agreement.

"I won't. It'll be fine" I tried to comfort them.

"There are some Vampires that just don't have willpower" Yoongi breathed out, looking at me.

"I mask my scent all the time, so I'm not that worried" I replied.

"Yeah, I noticed that. Did Tae ask you to do that?" Yoongi wondered.

Jin glanced at me briefly as I shook my head, "he can deal with my scent well. It's just out of habit now I've figured out how to put my barrier in front of it"
