The door opened behind him, and she walked out. She asked what the hell he was doing. She went to caress his face, and he pushed it away, afraid of what might happen if her father saw them.

His words came out frantic, and loud, and absolutely too cruel. He would never forget the way she broke down, slowly, as he made it clear that he couldn't do this, and that, for all intents and purposes, he couldn't ever date her.

He would never forgive himself for how his words had come out. He would never forgive himself for making her cry.

He wanted to apologize, to explain further, to do anything at all to make it better, help her understand.

But he felt as though he was running out of time, as if he was being watched and he simply couldn't make this situation any better in time.

And he ran away.

He knew what happened after that, of course. He tried to hide, but Daddy Dearest found him, of course. He remembered his fist rearing back, his back hitting a brick wall a few feet away from them both. He'd been picked up by the collar, and he'd been told that it was his lucky day.

Cherry had made Mister Dearest promise he wouldn't kill him. And apparently, Dearest wasn't one to go back on a promise.

But he was one to find loopholes, and he'd said he'd saved "a special little prison, just for you."

A blank video game case had then materialized in his free hand. Senpai hadn't understood then-- his nose was bleeding a lot, and he hit his head pretty hard on the wall, so he probably wouldn't have understood anyways-- but he knew what it meant now.

He was going to be trapped. He wasn't going to be killed, but he was going to lose any semblance of who he really was.

Dearest said he was lucky. That he would still be alive. That, technically, he would still get to be with Girlfriend this way.

The last thing he remembered were Mister Dearest's pitch black, red-pupiled eyes, and then everything turned to cherry blossoms and code and pixels.

He still didn't forgive himself for that. Even after he'd suffered for years, and even after Cherry had forgiven him, he couldn't ever move past what he said that day.

And neither could Y/N, apparently.

He remembered them, alright. His memories consisted of snippets of them from back in highschool, and they were all bad. Either they would do everything in their power to (for lack of a better term) cockblock him, one-up him, or otherwise insult him just for the sake of taking him down a peg. Where Cherry had looked past Senpai's popularity and found something to love, Y/N found something to hate.
