It had been exceptionally rainy this past week or so and I loved every bit of it. The fact that I was off for a two week vacation made me love it even more. It gave me all the time that I needed to just sit back and relax. Being thirty-seven years old kind of wears you out. It's even worse if you're the mother to a sixteen year old half human-half Cybertronian girl. Being a Cybertronian's mate was also exhausting as well. There was just only so much time that I actually had to myself nowadays and I was cherishing every bit of it before I didn't have it anymore.

At the moment, I was laying on the couch in my living room watching a bunch of old shows on TV. Ironhide had been at the base all day and wouldn't come home until he picked up Kaelyn from school. This only gave me about five more minutes alone, and I was actually quite sad. I loved the two of them to death, but sometimes they were too much of a handful. Kaelyn was just like her father and I never thought that could be such a bad thing, but when you're dealing with two Ironhide's every day, it was kind of exhausting.

I was more than ready to doze off until a loud, angry scream sounded from outside, followed by a car door slamming shut. With a groan, I sat up; my lovely afternoon was officially over. The front door burst open and I turned around to see that Ironhide's holoform had Kaelyn over his shoulder, much to her despair.

"Let me down!" she yelled as she kicked and punched his synthetic form.

He grunted and put her down, only slightly rougher than normal. She lost her balance and fell to the floor, but quickly got up and glared at her father. I just sighed.

"What the hell is going on here?" I grumbled.

Kaelyn looked away from Hide and looked at me before walking over. "Your brute of a mate doesn't know his slagging boundaries," she snapped as she sat down on the couch. I just made a face.

"Maybe if your insolent daughter knew how to act I wouldn't need to get physical with her," Ironhide retorted.

"Piece of scrap," I heard Kaelyn mumble. I delivered a quick smack to her head which only angered her. "What was that for?"

"Quit being an asshole. What even happened?" I asked the two of them.

"Well, I was taking care of some business when he just decided to come in and swoop me up. Wouldn't even let me walk myself to the damn door because he was afraid I'd try something," Kaelyn said. It didn't really explain much though; all it did was make me skeptical.

"What business?"

"Business that involves her hitting anyone who says the wrong thing to her," Ironhide answered quickly.

I groaned. She was exactly like Ironhide personality wise, but she was also just like my high school self had been only a lot more dangerous. She's already put at least two people in the hospital because her impulses and we've been working hard to control her. It obviously wasn't working all that well.

"Are you out of your mind? What have I told you about that?" I scolded her.

She shrugged and sighed. "You don't even understand what happened."

I sat back down beside her and propped my feet up onto the coffee table. Ironhide strolled over and sat down on the other side of her. "Enlighten us," I urged her.

"I cut myself today. We were working on sewing or something in Home Ec, and I was trying to cut the stupid fabric with the stupid scissors, but I wound up slicing my arm open. It's really deep, actually," she started. She held up her right arm and I saw that it was wrapped in a white bandage which was now stained with blue and red.
