I walked into my room and looked around. "Yikes.." I mumbled. "There must be some kind of spider infestation or something."
I opened my suitcase and looked around. I couldn't find my pajamas anywhere. "Darn! They must be in my other bag in the car. Welp.. looks like I'm sleeping in what I'm wearing." I sighed. I hummed a light tune and I walked back over to the bed, jumping into it and sitting up. I zipped up my suitcase and laid it beside the bed. I slid under the covers and I turned off the lamp on the nightstand by the bed.
I looked down between the bed and the nightstand and took notice of the space between them. It looked like I could fit between them. "This will totally come in handy during hide and seek." I said to myself. I got comfortable and a few minutes later, I was asleep.
All of a sudden, a bright beam of light shined through the window, flickering on and off. I sat up in a startle and looked toward the window. "What the heck..?" I asked myself. I got up and slowly walked towards the window. I climbed up onto the window seat and opened the glass shutter.
Then, the bright light shined in my face and I could barely see. I covered my eyes and fell back. "Ow.." I rubbed my eyes, pulling myself upwards onto my feet. I looked out the window once more and that's when I saw it. Saw him. The sun was rising and he looked desperate.
Afraid, I quickly got up and looked for a place to hide, forgetting to close the window. I remembered the small space between the bed and the night stand and I quickly ran over. I sat in the cubby like space. I looked around the walls and I realized, there was nothing but a puny cross to protect me from what I suspected was a vampire. "No garlic? Really?!" I whispered to myself. That's when he flew into the room. He quickly closed the curtains and let out a shaky breath of relief, floating down to the floor.
He started walking around and examining everything. He slowly made his way to the side of the room that I was on. It looked like he hadn't noticed me yet. I covered my mouth with my hands, hoping not to alert him. He ran his hand over the bed post and looked towards the ground, now standing a few feet in front of me. I observed him as he stood there peacefully. Pale, blue skin. Dark silky hair. His jacket had spikes coming out of the shoulder pads. He was kinda.. cute?
Just then, his gaze met mine and his expression grew tense. "Hello..?" I said with a nervous smile. He growled and jumped on top of the bed frame. He peered down at me and he hissed. I quickly got up and almost tripped while running to get the cross on the wall. I grabbed it and held it at the vampire who was sitting on top of my bed frame. Suddenly, it broke. I whimpered at the sight of my only protection gone. "Anything else to attack me with? Nows your chance!" He grumbled at me. His voice had a certain accent to it. His voice.. was somewhat charming.
"Who said I wanted to attack you? I don't want to hurt you at all." I said as I leaned back against the desk behind me. "Your kind has hunted us for centuries. You expect me to believe you?" He asked. "My kind? I'm just a 13 year old girl from San Diego. How could I possibly be a danger to anyone?" I asked with a nervous smile as I scooted further away from the bed. I was now in the corner of the room. The vampire jumped to the end of the frame and peered down at me. "Don't try to run! If I let you escape, you'll put a pack of mortals on my trail." He said, his eyes piecing through me like daggers.
"And why would I do that? It's not like I have anything against you. You haven't done a thing to me." I said, my legs frozen in place. "So far." He responded with a smirk. Shivers went down my spine. 'Pull yourself together!' I thought to myself. "I-I even happen to like vampires!" I said. I had to find some way to calm him down. He stood up and gave me a questioning look before fixing his composure.
"Of course you do. I know what you're up to. I've been warned. You mortals are always so tricky! And fearful.." He growled at me. "I-Im not.. Scared of you! No way!" I said. He laughed. "You're not scared.. You're not scared!? Really?" He chuckled in disbelief as he fixed himself, sitting on the edge of the bed frame. I sighed, deciding to be honest. "Ugh.. Of course I am. I mean, you're a vampire and you're threatening me, don't you think that'd be a bit scary?" I asked, trying to be logical.
He sighed and hopped down in front of me, facing the wall on the side of the room. "I had a scary night too.." he said. I tilted my head in confusion and suddenly I was curious as to what he meant. He brought his hand up and he turned his gaze towards me. "Forget I said that-" he said. "Hmm, sure." I said with a smirk. "I do not feel fear!" He exclaimed as he stepped closer to me. "Oh come on. You look exhausted. Something bad must have happened." I pointed out. Just then, there was knocking on the door.
