"Y/n! Wake up! We're making a pit stop." Tony said as he shook me awake. I sat up from leaning on the window and rubbed my eyes. "Alright alright.. I'll get up." I said. I opened the car doors and stepped out, stretching my arms and legs. Suddenly, a hand covered my eyes. "Guess who~" A voice said. I knew it was Rudolph but I went along with it. "Hmm.. Count Dracula?" I asked with a smile. He laughed, taking note of how I used his own joke on him. "Guess again." He said.
"Gregory? Anna?" I asked. He sighed and uncovered my eyes, flying in front of me. "You really are a terrible guesser." He said. I laughed and he stuck out his hand. "How about we browse around the gift shop?" Rudolph asked. I nodded and took his hand, making me float up to level with him. He flew over to the gift shop and walked in, looking around. I saw a clothing rack filled with colorful shirts and accessories.
"Rudy! Come here!" I exclaimed, dragging him over to the rack. "What's wrong?" He asked. "What's wrong? You wanna know what's wrong? The fact that you aren't wearing one of these!" I said as I picked up a random flannel and threw it at him. He caught it and held it up. "Hold on, let me look around. I'm sure I can find a shirt that fits you perfectly." I said, begining to look through the racks. "If you say so." Rudolph chuckled.
After about a minute of looking, I finally found it. The perfect shirt. It was a neon red button up with a basic flower design on it. It looked like something you'd see a tourist wearing when you arrive at the airport in Hawaii. "Found it!" I said as I took it out and held it up. He looked at me confused. "Here," I tossed it to him and he caught it. "Go try it on." I said as I walked up to the lady at the register. "$19.15 for the shirt." She said. I took out a $20 and handed it to her. "Keep the change, I won't have any use for it." I said. She smiled and put the spare change in a donations box next to the register.
Just then, Rudolph came out of the bathroom wearing the shirt. "What do you think?" He asked. "You look great!" I said happily. He rubbed the back of his neck and smiled shyly. "You can change back into your regular clothes if you want to." I said. He nodded and walked back into the changing room. He came back out a few minutes later, his regular clothes back on and the new shirt in his hand.
"Let's go Rudy, our parents might be waiting." I said, taking his hand and walking out of the shop, dragging him with me. We walked out if the shop and back to the car. Our families were hanging around the car, all having conversations of their own. "Y/n, hold on. Mother, may we fly around for a few minutes?" Rudolph asked, flying up to Freda. His mother nodded. "Yes, but please be back soon. I don't want Mrs. Thompson to worry." She said.
Rudolph flew back over to me and smiled. He stuck out his hand. I gently grabbed it and a floated up to his level. We started flying around in the sky, enjoying the breeze. We flew into the forest near the pit stop. "Can we sit down and chat? This forest is so peaceful." I asked. "I was thinking the same. It is quite wonderful." He said, landing on the ground and walking over to a fallen tree. I followed him and we sat down. "So, you excited about San Diego?" I asked. "Yeah! Im a little nervous about being in a new place, but it seems fun." He said.
"It is! The beach there is beautiful!" I replied. "The beach?" Rudolph questioned. "I.. Rudolph.. Have you never been to the beach?" I asked. "No? There aren't very many beaches in Transylvania." He said. "Well we're gonna change that soon!" I said happily, grabbing his hand and intertwining our fingers.
We looked up at the stars. I pointed out my favorite constellations while Rudolph listened silently. After talking for a few minutes, a question popped into my mind. "Hey, Rudy?" I said. "Yes?" He replied. "Remember the first time we were in the catacombs? Anna was casting a spell on Tony, and we were talking about nicknames. You said you had a nickname for me, but it was a secret. May you tell me what it was?" I asked.
"You want to know what it was?" He asked, smirking. "Yes..? By the look on your face i can tell you've got something up your sleeve." I said. He pulled me up from my seat on the log and he flew up high into the night sky. He placed his hands around my waist and pulled me in. "My Mortal~" he said flirtatiously. My face turned bright red. He laughed and tucked a piece of hair out of my face. "You're cute when you're flustered." He said. I smiled.
"Will you stop being so charming?" I asked. He laughed even more. "I can't help it!" Rudolph exclaimed. I chuckled and I ruffled his hair. "Hey! You're gonna mess up my hair!" He joked. "Don't worry. I know its hard to comb your hair without a reflection." I smiled. "We should get back right?" He asked. I nodded and we flew back to the pit stop. The parents were still talking over by the car while Anna, Tony, and Gregory were in their own group to the side, a few feet away. "Hey Y/n, what were you and your boyfriend doing while you were out huh?" Tony teased. "I bet they were smooching up a storm." Tony said to Anna.
Anna giggled in response. "Look at my little brother. Already in love~" Gregory said as he nudged Rudolph. Rudy on the other hand, looked annoyed at his siblings."Children! We are getting ready to leave!" Freda called out. "Tony, im so gonna get you." I said. "Well then, i'd better get going. Bye Anna! See you later!" Tony said, running over and jumping into the car. "See you soon Y/n." Anna said as she flew into the camper. Gregory smiled kindly and waved as he followed Anna.
"Hey Rudy," I began. "Yeah?" He asked. "You realize we are gonna have a beach date one night right?" I asked. He laughed and nodded. "I figured you'd say that." He said. Just then, I felt a warm peck on my cheek. "Bye!" Rudolph said as he too flew into the camper. I chuckled to myself and shook my head, hopping into the car.
