I couldn't help but sigh and feel bad once I saw Adley's pictures. I absolutely love seeing her so happy and having fun, but I hate that I don't get to see that when she's here. She closes off around my friends because she knows they judge her. So, she stays glued to my side, stays silent, and lets them bully her around. I never see that fun smile when we're with my friends.
I finally pushed myself out of bed once Duke started scratching at the door,
"Hang on buddy" I laughed, throwing on a pair of shorts then walking through the kitchen, opening the back door, and letting Duke out. I quickly fixed a cup of coffee then headed back outside myself.
I took a seat out in the sun and watched Duke run around. He slowly began making his way to the driveway where the basketball goal was. I couldn't help but laugh. Adley is always out there at this time. Duke will always go and chase her around,
"Sorry gramps, Addie's in Florida"
He walked in a circle then laid down on the concrete.
My phone buzzing brought me to,
-messages- -groupchat: the boys-
Ashton: [ guys night at my place ]

Part of me groaned, knowing I'd miss my call with Adley tonight. Guess I'll have to annoy her earlier than normal.
****
I hopped in my car to go to Ashton's, dialing Adley's number,
"Hey Cal" she answered on the second ring, but she didn't sound that great,
"You okay?" I questioned, turning out of my driveway,
"I'm not feeling great" she sighed, "I haven't gotten out of bed at all"
"What's wrong?" I furrowed my eyebrows, even though she couldn't see me,
"My dad thinks kidney stones or something" she mumbled. I nodded. Her dad was a surgeon so his thoughts are pretty accurate,
"Keep me updated, okay babe?"
"I will Cal. Go have fun with the boys"
"Okay" I laughed, "I love you"
"I love you too. Bye!"
I sighed and pulled into Ashton's driveway, getting out and heading straight to the backyard.
"Heyy man!" Ashton waved. He was already high,
"Hey Cal! You enjoying your girlfriend free weeks?" Michael laughed,
"I don't know why I even came" I muttered and sat down, "I wish you all would leave my girlfriend alone. Maybe be nice to her for a change"
"Damn dude. Sorry" Luke threw his hands up,
"It pisses me off! Luke, Mike, your girlfriends are years older than you and none of their friends picked on you. All you do is treat Adley like a little kid. She feels so unwelcome to the point I have to beg her to come hang out with us" I yelled and took a swig of my beer.
All the guys were taken back,
"Guys I love her. I'm so in love with her. Please just be nice. I don't want to lose her" I begged. They all nodded and it got awkwardly quiet until my phone started ringing.
I lifted my hips and pulled my phone from my pocket and saw Adley's name,
"Hey Ads. I'm with the boys right now" I answered,
"Calum"
That wasn't Adley. That was her dad, Blaine,
"Oh, uh, hey, what's up?" I stood, walking off a little,
"I just wanted to keep you informed. We're taking Adley to the hospital, well I am. Technically nobody else is allowed to go but I work at the hospital so it's okay"
"So what's wrong with her? I thought she said it was kidney stones"
"That was my original thought but then I noticed it was her right side. She literally can't move. I'm pretty sure it's her appendix"
My face fell. I remember when Ashton's appendix busted. It was awful. He was curled up in a ball screaming,
"She wants you to come out here, but trust me you don't have too" Blaine spoke,
"No no, I'll be there. Just keep me updated please"
"Of course Calum"
When we hung up I walked back to the boys,
"I've got to go. Adley's appendix might have busted. I have to get a flight to Florida"
I didn't wait for a response, instead, I ran out to my car and headed home, and booked the first flight to Orlando.
< Saturday, 13th >
I landed in Orlando and got a rental car and headed to Adley's house. I haven't heard anything about how she was doing. I do know she's still in the hospital. She was also in so much pain she was practically delirious from it.
I pulled up to the house and Alison came out to greet me,
"Hi honey. How are you?" she hugged me,
"I'm good. How's Adley?"
"She's okay. Blaine is actually bringing her home today"
I smiled,
"Let's go inside" Alison gently grabbed my arm.
I took my bag up to Adley's room before going back downstairs where Trent had now joined Alison.
"They're almost here," Trent told me as he stood. I nodded and followed him outside as a car pulled up. I smiled and walked around to the passenger side and opened the door. Adley was lazily in the seat,
"Can I pick her up?" I asked Blaine. He laughed and nodded. I carefully unbuckled her and lifted her into my arms. She hummed and laid her head against my shoulder,
