"Lindir" you called your friend interrupting his work from papers.

You two were in the library.

"Can you please teach me elvish?".

Your question surprised him so much he left the papers for a while and looked at you amazed.

"Really?" and you nodded in response.

You were the only human there in Rivendell..well, there was Strider but only you didn't know elvish if not some words; and for that difference you didn't feel comfortable living there with all those elves.

You wanted to assimilate in Rivendell, you also wanted to know elvish and speak it just to feel like as one of them even if your origin was different from them as you were human.

"Very well" he said "meet me here in the library, this afternoon at the fourth hour".

And so you did.

You were in the same hall of that morning and while waiting for Lindir you began wandering around the shelves and the many books upon them.

Then a noise of a book hit the desk.

It was Lindir.

"We can begin" he told as he gestured you to sit next to him and so the lesson began.

"We can start with simple things" he opened the book "... For example, how o greet someone.".

"There are two ways to say welcome, one is /Mae g'ovannen/ the other one is /Mae l'ovannen/. The difference between them is whom you speak with, the first you use with friends while the last one is more reverential".

Only at listening that you sighed.

You thought you couldn't even learn elvish let alone speak it; you were ready to surrender.

"Don't worry, mellon" Lindir put a hand on your shoulder.

"You can do it" he reassured you.

"What does 'mellon' mean?" you asked

"It means 'friend' " he smiled at you.

And so did you.

You were happy you had such a kind and patient teacher like Lindir.

"Where were we?" you asked returning on the lesson.

You were ready to learn as much as possible.
