"Sunghoon, we'll be late!" Yeji cried from outside his room.

The older boy sighed, picking out his clothes.
"I need to change and call mom and dad!"
"Ugh, fine. Just be out soon, I want to eat the snacks!" Yeji whined.
Sunghoon chuckled, putting on a coat before taking out his phone and calling his parents, Yeji coming in as well.

"How are you two?" Their mom asked.
"We're good! There's a New Years party  in the park, we are going with our friends." Sunghoon said.
"Okay, just don't get into trouble and stay safe." Their dad called from out of the frame.
Their mom laughed.
"Don't worry, I'm sure they know that already."
"Uh huh! See you later." Yeji said. They waved to each other and ended the call, walking outside the cabin to see their Aunt Minha waiting for them in a car.

Christmas had passed and they all spent it with their families, and now New Years was in just three hours.

"Get in!" Minha smiled at them. Sunghoon sat in the front while Yeji went to the back, driving off down the street and towards the park, filled with people and lights all over. There were things playing on screens and snow fell slightly, it wasn't cold though.
They parked at the side of the street and went into an apartment by the crowd.
"Sunghoon, Yeji!" Soeun smiled and let them into the house, also bowing and greeting Minha.
"You have a nice view of the event, Soeun." Sunghoon smiled. She smiled back.
"Of course. The others are playing upstairs." She said. Minha stayed downstairs while they went up into a room, being greeted by the rest of their friends.
"Hey!" Jiyoon waved.
Yeji smiled and sat beside Jaehee, munching on some chips with her. Sunghoon went beside Jake.
"Hi." Sunghoon said. Jake smiled and held his hand.
"Hey."

People started singing songs outside, dancing and drinking.
They stayed inside the house, sometimes grabbing snacks from the fridge and getting up to do other things. They played some board games, and they were soon at the close point.

Sunghoon checked his phone.

"Sunghoon?"
He looked up from his spot on the couch, a smiley Jake over him.
"Come outside with me." He said in a velvety soft voice, offering him a hand. Sunghoon took it and let the older boy lead him upstairs. They went out to the terrace, looking out at the people at the park as the time slowly ticked down.

The wind went through them, things seemed to be centred around them as they looked at each other.

"You know... I was depressed. When my mom was beating me and controlling my life, I became sad and unresponsive. I suppose it led to her hitting me more, not answering her questions sometimes. I even lost sleep and once I was unable to sleep for a week... have you ever had depression or  insomnia, Hoon?"
"Insomnia happens to me. But not as much as before. Depression, not really. I was often left home alone with my sister and our parents were always out on business trips, and I was mad at them. But that's kind of different."
"I see. Sunghoon..."
Jake stepped closer to him, their shoes meeting and the older holding his arms. Sunghoon stayed in his spot, looking into his eyes.

"You don't know how much you've helped me. I didn't expect to meet someone who could really make me feel at home and love again. I'm glad that you and the others accepted me for who I really am."

"Five!"

"I want you to know..."

"Four!"

"That I'm happy that I met you."

"Three!"

"And I want to stay with you."

"Two!"

"Jake..." Sunghoon whispered.
Jake only smiled.

"One!"

"I love you."

"Happy New Year!"

Sunghoon widened his eyes as Jake took the sides of his neck into his hands, pulling them close together and connecting their lips. The taller boy kissed back and closed his eyes, holding him by the waist as Jake wrapped his arms around his neck, cheers of the new year coming from the house and out in the park.

They parted after a while, chuckling as they looked at each other again.
Jake played with the snowflake necklace the younger had on, looking down at the floor in embarrassment.
Sunghoon took his chin into his fingers, making him look at him.

"I love you too, Jake. Forever."
