"TWELVE TO ONE," Coach Bombay spoke with a face full of fury. "Twelve to one. You know what word comes to mind when you think of that? Hmm? Pathetic!"

The team looked around at each other nervously, Dwayne widened his eyes at Y/n, her shrugging in reply.

"You guys were brought here to play hockey," He continued.

Jesse squinted his eyes, "What about you?"

"What about me, Jesse?" Coach Bombay walked slowly towards the team, making a few of them scoot back.

"Coach Stansson knew everything about us," Julie started, speaking harshly. "They were ready for us."

Luis nodded before adding, "And you spend your time driving around in convertibles talking to those sponsor fools."

"Or hanging with the Iceland lady," Fulton began, crossing his arms. "We saw you two Saturday night."

"Eating ice cream with the enemy, huh, coach?" Dean added.

Confused murmurs spread across the locker room, hurt expressions etched on their faces.

"Hey. Hey, what I do is none of your business. Is that clear?"

Nothing but disappointed looks responded to him. Soon after, the team started taking off their gear, before getting interrupted by Coach Bombay again.

"Don't take those pads off," He said quickly. "Everyone stay in your gear. We have practice."

"Tonight?" Goldberg questioned.

"This is unbelievable," Y/n said under her breath, only loud enough for Dwayne to hear, who was right next to her.

Coach didn't respond, and only ushered them out of the locker room.

Everyone started to skate back and fourth, practicing their stopping ability.

He blew his whistle, and Charlie came up to him, "This isn't very much fun, coach."

"Who said it was supposed to be fun?"

Charlie straightened his back, "You did, when you coached the Ducks."

"Well, I don't see any Ducks here, Charlie," He replied. "All I see is Team U.S.A one loss away from elimination."

"Twenty more sprints! Let's go!" And he blew his whistle once more. "Line up, Charlie. Keep you here all night if I have to."

The pain in Y/n's wrist was getting extremely worse throughout the next few days. She hoped that it would lessen before their next game, although she knew her luck wasn't that great.

Whenever one of her teammates would talk about their future games and practices, her heart would race, thoughts rushing through her mind.

Y/n didn't know if she would ever recover from this injury if she continued to play.

She was snapped out of her thoughts by Adam starting to wave his hand in front of her face.

"Y/n?" He tilted his head and squinted his eyes, seeing that she still didn't respond. "Are you alright?"

The girl looked over at her friend, before looking back at her hands. "Yeah. Just thinking."

Adam was skeptical, but thought it was best to leave Y/n with her thoughts a while longer. The pair returned to silence, sitting alone together at an abandon park.

With all the stress to do well in hockey and studies, Adam brought up the idea to sneak out of the dormitories. So, that's exactly what the two did. They had walked all the way to the Grand Park in the middle of the night.

"Hey, Adam?" Y/n suddenly spoke, her voice soft.

"Hm?"

"Do you think that I should tell coach about my wrist?"

Adam gave her a confused look before widening his eyes. "It's not bothering you is it? I thought you said it was fine. Have you tried icing it yet? I heard that can really help-"

"Adam!" She said loudly, stopping his rambling. "Yes I have iced it already. Also bothering is more of an understatement."

The boy sighed. "I think you should tell Coach Bombay about this."

"But what if he benches me? I have to play! I don't know what I would do if I had to just watch you guys play, while I sat by myself, wishing it would go away!"

"You could get a permanent wound! It's either this or the possibility to never play again," Adam argued back, standing up from his spot on the grass. "It's really late, we should definitely get going. Come on."

Y/n stood up after him, starting to walk with him. "I'll tell him."

Adams face lit up as he turned to his friend, happy that she was doing the best for her body.

"After one more game."
