Awsten and Scarlett try to make their way down the stairs quietly.
He didn't want to hide her from his parents, he was just more so afraid that they would scare her off before he even got the chance to figure out why the girl that he had only known for a short period of time meant so much to him.
With the way he had already gushed to his mom over her, he knew that Ginny would probably embarrass him without even meaning to.
Their attempts to be quiet are almost immediately ruined when he hears his mom from the kitchen call out to the both of them. "Sweetie did that girl you were telling me all about stay over last night?"
Scarlett looks over at Awsten smirking, noticing that his face was the same color as the nickname he had lovingly given her. "Look whose red now." she says slyly, and he rolls his eyes walking ahead of her down the stairs.
"Her name is Scarlett, and yes she's literally right behind me." he replies with a twinge of annoyance in his voice.
Ginny's eyes light up, completely ignoring the dismay in her sons voice. "Oh goodie! Let me see her, you told me she was pretty I want to say hi to her!" she says excitedly and Awsten throws his hands up in frustration.
"Mom! Seriously?" he cries out, and Scarlett holds back a laugh walking past Awsten into the kitchen.
"Hi Mrs. Knight." she says softly with a small wave, her eyes growing wide when she's instantly pulled into a hug, her arms hanging limply by her side.
"Oh nonsense, Mrs. Knight makes me feel old. Call me Ginny." she tells Scarlett, pulling back and placing her hands on Scarletts cheeks with a smile on her face. "Now Awsten said you were pretty but my goodness you are stunning." she exclaims before pulling her back in to another hug.
Scarlett glances over Ginny's shoulder to look at Awsten and she couldn't tell if he wanted to cry or run away, she waves her hand to grab his attention mouthing "It's fine." in his direction hoping that it would calm him down from being so worked up.
"I'll stop embarrassing my son now, are you guys going anywhere? Do you need clothes? Unless you have the same things as Awsten those are definitely his." Ginny says sweetly, and Scarlett feels her eyes grow wide as he coughs to hide a laugh.
"I hadn't slept well the night before last, so Awsten said that he would rather me stay here than having to drive back home. These are his, but I'm heading to my apartment now to get changed before we go out to breakfast." Scar replies smoothly, not missing a beat.
Awsten was impressed with how unfazed she was by his mothers antics and realized that she definitely meant it when she said that she was good with parents, he knew that his mom was going to love her and subsequently never shut up about her for the foreseeable future.
"Oh good I'm glad that he had you stay if you were feeling that tired! You're welcome here anytime sweetie, I know he told me the other night that you were working on your music and you were going to send it in to the Madden's? Benji and Joel are very sweet I bet they would love you, and love to hear what you're working on. Especially seeing as how highly Awsten was speaking of it!" Ginny rambles, and Scarlett feels a smile flash across her face hearing that Awsten was telling his mom about her music.
She nods, clearing her throat slightly. "We worked on stuff pretty much all day yesterday, I posted something last night and they reached out on their own without me even sending anything in. They want me to come to LA for a meeting." she replies shyly, laughing to herself when his mom cheers.
"That's incredible! You have to go, I know we just met but I am so proud of you! You'll have to send Awsten some digital links to things so I can listen to your music." Ginny says happily.
"Digital links? Mom you know how to work youtube just look her up." Awsten says in a confused tone, and Scarlett laughs to herself.
"Yes Awsten I know that." his mom replies with a sassy tone, "But sometimes people will upload things and the streams don't count towards you because they're on someone elses page right?" she questions looking between the both of them and Awsten nods softly to confirm.
"No you're right, but Scar isn't signed so it really doesn't make a difference unfortunately." he says quietly, and his mom shakes her head dismissing him.
"Not signed yet. She will be." she assures the both of them brightly before pulling Scarlett in for another hug. "I'll stop bothering the both of you and let you get going so you can go on your date."
"It's not a date." Awsten says quietly, and Ginny shrugs.
"And a tomato isn't a fruit." she interjects and Awsten furrows his eyebrows in confusion.
"A tomato is a fru-" Awsten starts to say, cutting himself off when he realizes the point that his mom was making. "Okay we're leaving now bye." he calls out as Scarlett makes her way over to him smiling.
She turns around before they make it to the door calling out into the house, "Bye Mrs. Knight it was really nice to meet you!"
They both hear his mom laugh in the kitchen, "It's Ginny! But it was nice to meet you too darling! Come over for dinner one day this week, plan it with Awsten and let me know when!" she calls back.
Scarlett looks over at Awsten who is shaking his head while they walk out of the house together stopping in front of both of their cars. "She's really nice." Scarlett says plainly, and Awsten laughs.
"She's embarrassing." he says back, before going to grab his keys out of his pocket.
"I can drive." Scarlett tells him, "We have to go back to my apartment anyway, and then I can just drop you off here after breakfast is over."
Awsten nods slowly, pausing for a minute. "What if I don't want to go home after breakfast?" he says to himself thinking that she can't hear him.
"Then we can go back to my apartment. I have the entire day off, I would love to spend more time with you I just didn't know if you were sick of me or not yet." she tells him, making her way over to her car to unlock it, Awsten frozen in his spot in the driveway.
"I didn't think that you were going to hear me." he says shyly with a small laugh.
"I have really good hearing, besides you can tell me anything. Don't ever be nervous to tell me things, especially when it comes to spending time together." she assures him sweetly. "Come on."
He nods slowly, smiling at her. "I don't think I'll ever get sick of you Scar." he says a little more confidently this time, getting into her car.
"We'll see. I tend to be a handful after a while." she replies with a sad laugh, trying not to let her emotions get the best of her as she pulls out of Awsten's driveway.
"That's okay, I have two hands." he replies.
