Reader's POV

Unconscious bodies littered the parking lot like some abstract street art. Mikey and Hanma were standing in the midst of it all.

They stood face-to-face, Mikey glaring at Hanna's grinning face. I walked slowly towards the boys, each step faster than the last.

I stood by Mikey's side, my hands behind my back, waiting for my commander's instructions. A serious expression was painted on my face, signalling to Hanma that I meant business, and that I would destroy him if he tried to do anything.

"Until next time, Mikey." Hanma said, noticing my icy-cold appearance. "Next time you hear from me, it'll be with Valhalla." He smiled at Mikey one last time before hopping on the motorcycle of a member of Moebius.

I took a step forward in an attempt to try and chase after him, but Mikey stopped me by putting a hand on my shoulder.

"We should go see Ken-chin." I had completely forgotten about him. I grabbed Mikey's hand, leading him to his CB250T. We jumped on and sped towards the hospital, the red light from the motorcycle leaving a bright trail in the wind.

When we had arrived, several members of Toman were standing outside a hospital room where they told us Draken's surgery was taking place. Tears pricked their eyes as they feared the death of their vice commander. I bit the inside of my cheek, trying to suppress my tears. Many of Toman were seated on blue couches, hugging themselves and telling themselves Draken would be okay.

"You guys. He's not going to die."

I looked at Mikey in surprise and confusion. He had so much confidence in his voice, he really sounded like a commander.

I had never seen Mikey this way before. He was usually childish, and when he was serious, he always ended his seriousness with goofiness or a silly remark.

Now, he was Manjiro Sano, Toman's founder and commander.

"Ken-chin doesn't lie. If he says he's going to live, he'll live." He said firmly. I bowed my head, my hair hiding a small smile forming on my lips. Suddenly, all of Toman was suddenly energised. Smiles were plastered on their faces and they were straightened, no longer hugging themselves out of self-pity.

Eventually, the members of Toman began to leave the hospital to go home. Mikey sat down on one of the blue couches, reassuring us with a kind smile on his face. Two doctors came out of the surgery room. "The operation..." they said. We all held our breaths. "...was a success." Everyone cheered and cried to themselves, relieved and thankful Draken was alive.

I turned to where Mikey was seated, but he was no longer there.

I rushed outside, looking left and right for the blonde boy.

Sobbing. That's what I heard when I was about to head back inside. I turned towards the sound and found Mikey, in standing with his back against the wall.

His back slid down and he fell to the ground, now sitting. He held his head in his hand, crying. "Thank goodness. Ken-chin."

I walked over to him, playing with my kimono's obijime. "Mikey?" He gave no response. I sat down next to him, tucking my legs to my chest. "Don't make me worry like that, you asshole." Mikey choked out, running a hand through his hair. I sat there with him, letting my own tears fall.

Mikey's POV

I sat on the ground with Y/n for what I thought of to be a few minutes. Y/n stood up. "C'mon." she told me, outstretching a hand. "The festival's not over yet." I wanted to knock her hand away and keep sitting on the ground, crying, wallowing in my own self-pity. But I knew she'd drag me if I refused anyway. So I took her hand and we enjoyed the rest of our night eating dorayaki and goofing off.

I wished nothing would change about my life.

If only.
