Mikey's POV
I released the hug and looked at my best friend up and down. She looked to be in pretty bad shape, like when I first met her. I smiled at the memory of the beginning of our friendship.
I was beyond happy to have her back.
When I was explaining to Tokyo Manji about losing her, I wore a mask, acting as if I didn't care. How could I not care? She was one of my oldest friends. Of course I cared, it ate me up inside, what I had done to her.
"I'm so-" I started.
"Shut up." She interrupted, probably already knowing I was going to apologise. "Fight now, talk later, you idiot."
Part of me felt insulted, but I brushed it off. I got my friend back.
Reader's POV
I don't know what Mikey was thinking about having me back, but I was over the moon.
"Let's go kick Valhalla's ass." I said confidently, looking at him for approval.
He wore a huge grin, so big that Hanma seemed to have competition.
"But before we do that, we have to get rid of... that." Mikey said, wrinkling his nose as he gestured at my jacket.
I nodded and tore it off. I threw it to the ground and stomped on it for good measure. Mikey laughed out loud, clapping me on the back.
We then proceeded to climb, carefully, down the mountain of automobiles.
Timeskip to when they're on the ground because I'm lazy.
It seemed that Kazutora had climbed down while Mikey and I were making up.
"Betrayal is human nature." he said mysteriously. "Let's end this, Mikey. Either you die, or I die!"
But before he could say anything else, Mikey punched him, very hard, across his face. Kazutora landed on his butt, gasping in shock.
Alarms blared inside my head as I realised what Mikey was going to do.
"If all that's in your head is destroying things..." Mikey started. I gave him a what-the-hell-are-you-doing look. "I'll destroy you right here and now."
He took a step closer to Kazutora but I grabbed his wrist, causing him to look back at me. My grip on his wrist loosened as I saw the murderous look in his dark eyes. The blood dripping down his face wasn't helping with the whole "murderer" look either.
"Think about what you're about to do. Don't let anger cloud your judgement." I warned.
He pulled his arm away from me and kicked Kazutora, sending him flying. I could hear Kazutora choking, gasping for air.
Mikey walked slowly to Kazutora. "Mikey!" I called out to him. He ignored my pleas and cries to stop. Mikey kicked Kazutora again.
I was frozen in fear, not knowing what to do. I had never seen Mikey like this. "Y/n." Kazutora weakly gasped. I could barely hear him with his weak voice. "Stop him. Remember what he did to you."
Kazutora was kicked one final time, skidding against the ground, leaving marks on the sand.
I looked down at my hands. I knew it was Kazutora's attempt to save his life. I looked back up to see Mikey on Kazutora, bashing his face in. The sound was deafening.
Kazutora couldn't even gasp for air because the blood in his mouth was choking him, slowly cutting off the air from his lungs. Mikey just kept punching his face repeatedly, blood reddening his knuckles and splattering across his face. His expression remained calm and at ease, as if he was enjoying what was happening.
"Mikey..." Draken said with a low voice. It appeared he had woken up. I suppose everyone thought it was pointless to stop him.
I didn't, though.
I ran up to Mikey, pushing him off Kazutora.
I gasped at the horrid sight. Kazutora's face was completely unrecognizable. Blood dripped from every inch of his face. His eyes were milky white. His usual yellow hair was now decorated with flecks of red. I couldn't tell if the crimson liquid was dripping into or from his mouth. He was missing one of his front teeth.
I placed my ear to his chest, hoping to hear a heartbeat. "Someone call an ambulance!" I shouted.
"What are you doing?!" Mikey roared, grabbing my shirt collar. "He deserves to die! After all he's done. Baji..." He started sobbing.
Baji? What happened to Baji? I looked to Draken who pointed in Baji's body's direction sadly. "Oh no. No no no no no no. What happened?!"
"Stabbed. By Kazutora." Mikey informed me, tears still dripping down his cheek. "Don't you see? Kazutora doesn't deserve freedom. He doesn't deserve the luxury to live."
"Mikey..." I said to him gently. "If you kill him, you're no better than him. A murderer."
"I don't need to be better! I just need to do him justice!"
"LISTEN TO YOURSELF! YOU'RE NOT THE MIKEY WE ALL KNOW!" I looked down at my bloody hands. "We're all in pain. I get it. We all think irrationally sometimes, even me. Look what I did, betraying my family because I got mad at something someone said. We all make mistakes, we just have to look past them."
I looked back up at Mikey with a sad smile on my face.
Mikey stopped. He wiped away his flowing tears. His breathing was shaky as he tried to calm himself down. "I-I'm sorry. I d-don't know what got into me." Mikey's voice was quivering as he tried to stop crying.
"It's alright. As I said earlier, we all make mistakes. We should make things right and stop fighting. If we keep fighting, this will just happen-"
Hot fluid erupted at the bottom of my throat. It rose up, I coughed it out. Blood. Searing, hot pain flared up in my abdomen. I glanced down to see a long shard of glass from a car's window poking through my shirt.
Screams and yells were heard everywhere around me, but they sounded murky, as if they were underwater.
Black spots danced before my eyes as I dropped down on one knee. My eyelids grew heavy. I fought the urge to close my eyes. The pain was getting too painful, like an entire vat of hot wax was being dumped on my skin.
I felt his arms scoop me up and hands pressed against my stomach to stop me from losing too much of my blood.
"WHERE'S THE GODDAMN AMBULANCE?!" Mikey screamed. "WE'RE LOSING HER!"
Before my eyes shut, the last thing I saw was Mikey looking down at me, his eyes a mix of emotions. Anger, confusion, sadness, panic.
Mikey.
My best friend.
