Reader's POV

I trudged along the sidewalk with my hands in my pockets, head down. I couldn't stop thinking about how so much had happened just a few minutes ago. Rain dampened my hair as I continued walking. As I walked with my head down, I bumped into something, or rather someone. I glanced up, strands of my (h/c) hair blocking my vision. I flicked the wet strands out of my face to get a better look at who I bumped into. My eyes met familiar light gold ones.

"You." I said with disdain. "Me." He grinned, chuckling slightly at my disheveled appearance. "Hanma." I spat out gingerly, as if his name was poison. I noticed his hair was no longer sticking up like the last time I saw him, it was drooping due to the weight of the rain. "At your service." he said, doing a mock bow.

I rolled my eyes at his performance.

"What are the chances we'd bump into each other? A member of Valhalla meeting a member of Toman." he said, smiling his signature grin.

"Former member of Toman." I corrected. He raised an eyebrow, suddenly interested. "Mikey kicked me out." I simply explained to him.

"Now why would he do that? I hate to say it, but you're a good asset to the gang. I guess I was wrong about him having a brain."

"Yeah well, now I have nothing to do, nowhere to go."

Hanma's gold eyes lit up, having suddenly received an idea. "What if..." he slyly stated. My eyebrows knit together, confused on what he was proposing. "You joined Valhalla?" My eyes widened, gears in my brain turning, deciding whether or not to join or not. I tugged at the nape of my neck, thinking.

I did say I would join Valhalla to Mikey's face. I can't back out on a promise, I never do. But then again, I didn't promise I would. I could get back at him for giving me the boot, though.

It was as if there were two sides of me arguing in my head. The good side, who didn't betray her friends even if they betrayed her. And the worse side, who would do anything for revenge.

I must have blanked out for a while, staring into space, because Hanma waved a hand in front of my face to grab my attention again. I was brought back to reality. I smiled up at Hanma. "How about I think about it?"

He nodded, deciding that was fair. "If you decide to join us, meet the gang in the arcade that closed down a while ago. If you don't, I get the message." I nodded firmly, knowing where he was talking about, and walked away, looking back at Hanma who had his back turned at me.

Hanma's POV

If she joins Valhalla, we could be unstoppable! Not only is she incredibly strong, she could soften Mikey up. This is perfect.

Reader's POV

I walked into a park with many trees and shrubbery. I found a bench in a solitary place and sat down to think about my dilemma. I thought back to the warehouse when Mikey looked at me with disgust, when he betrayed me. The thought made tears prick at the side of my eyes. Rain continued to fall from the sky, though it was blocked a little by the trees above me. I had nothing, no one. Toman was my family. Slowly, tears fell from my eyes and left trails of water on my cheeks. They ran down my face and didn't stop even when I wiped them away with the back of my hand. The rain also streaked my already wet face, hiding my tears with their droplets.

When I calmed down and the tears stopped flowing, I took a deep breath, knowing I had reached my decision.

I walked to the arcade Hanma had told me about, turned the doorknob, and opened the splintered door.
