Part ?Fourty-Two: The Social Media Outing

L: well I am surprised. I never thought of these two as responsible. 

Vinny and Devin fall over pretending to be hurt by Lucy's comment. 

Kobe: So Lucy this is where you've been hiding out 

L: Yeah Dallas is the new home

Vanessa: It's beautiful. 

L: Thank you! It is not quite done yet but it is getting there. You guys must be starving there is tons of food still. Help yourself! 

Kobe, Vanessa and the kids all nod and Devin and Vinny show them where the food is. 

Lucy walks over to where her dad and I are sitting. 

L: Hey what are you guys talking about?

Le (Lucy's dad): Well we were talking about fishing, but Jamie was mesmerized by Kobe and I don't think he has heard a word I have said. 

He was laughing. 

J: I am so sorry sir, I just never thought that I would see Kobe in my girlfriend's house.

Le: You'll get used to it. She knows a lot of people who know a lot of people. 

L: You want to meet them?

J: Kobe?

L: Yes Jamie. Kobe.

J: Umm ok. I thought he retired though. 

L: He is. He is part-owner of the team so he comes to most of the games to show support. 

J: Oh ok

L: So you ready to meet them?

J: Umm sure. 

Why am I nervous.

L: You have to promise not to fangirl or embarrass me. 

J: I won't I promise. 

Brad chimes in and pats me on the shoulders. 

Brad: Let's go Jamie. Just think of him as one of your teammates. 

J: excuse me sir. 

Lucy's dad nods and laughs a little. I think he knows I am nervous to meet Kobe. 

I get up and we walk over to the kitchen where Kobe and his family are getting food. 

Kobe: Lucy you have outdone yourself everything looks amazing. 

L: Thank you my mom and I made it. I have someone I want you guys to meet. 

Vanessa and Kobe lookup. I don't think his kids care. 

L: this is my boyfriend Jamie. Jamie this is Kobe and Vanessa Bryant. 

J: Hi it's nice to meet you guys. I am a big fan. 

Kobe: Aww thank man. If Lucy is willing to introduce me to one of her boyfriends I am sure you're a pretty great guy.

Vanessa: yeah we never met her ex so you must be pretty great. 

L: OKKK that's enough of that. You guys get your food and enjoy the night. 

Everyone laughs.

Kobe: Sorry we like to embarrass her. Have you eaten yet Jamie?

J: Yeah I have but I can always go for thirds. 

Connor: We are allowed to have thirds?

L: You guys have a problem. The both of you.
