"Austin! why are you drinking? You're driving!" I ask motioning to the alcohol.
"Don't worry I'm not drinking much, and I'll sober up before we go, it's only 1:30" he replies taking another sip.
"I have to be home before 6:30 though, because my mom wakes up for work around then." I say playing with the hem of my shirt. I am a little more calm now knowing that he is going to give me an explanation.
"You will" He replies pointing the bottle in my direction. I shake my head no and he replies with shrugging his shoulders. He
"So tell me what this is all about" I say.
He nods his head and reaches into his pocket. He pulls out a cigarette pack and a lighter. I watch as he pulls out a cigarette and light it up. He takes a long drag then slowly lets it out. I am starting to get slightly used to the smell of smoke now.
He turns his head towards me. "Well there was something in that bag that I had to return to those people. They told me to never show them my face again or they would kill me. They thought that I would be the one going in there and I knew they would take any chance they get to hurt me. Which is why I had to send you in there." He says taking another drag.
"Okay, well that was very vague, but how were you so certain they weren't going to hurt me? And why didn't you just ask one of your friends to do it?" I ask furrowing my eyebrows.
"Because their group never harms anyone who is innocent or hasn't done anything to harm there group. And I couldn't ask a friend to do it because they don't know about this and knowing them, they wouldn't have kept their mouth shut." He replies finishing his smoke.
"What was in the bag?" I dare to ask. I have a lot of other questions but this question is one that I really wanted to know.
"You're too innocent to know little girl." He replies shaking his head and just barely smirking. I scrunched up my nose at the name he called me.
"Uh don't call me that?" I say showing him I didn't approve. "But come on please just tell me, you told me everything, you can't just leave this out" I say trying to get it out of him.
"You're going to freak out" He says shaking his head and drinking.
"No I won't, I promise" I say eager. He lets out a deep sigh before answering.
"There was money and cocaine" He says running his hands through his hair. Did he just say cocaine?? I sat there with my mouth open. Why did Austin have the cocaine? Was he selling it? Are the rumors true? Does he use it himself? So many question are running through my head but instead of saying anything, I take the bottle of alcohol from Austin and take a big gulp. I squeeze my eyes shut as the warm liquid runs down my throat. This was the first time I've had straight alcohol, I usually just have a glass of wine if anything. And let me tell you this tasted very bad. I let out a cough as the harsh liquid burned my throat.
"Woah, that was a big sip" Austin says looking at me.
"And that was a lot if information" I say slightly pointing at him. I realize that this was the first normal conversation I've ever had with Austin.
"You know We've actually never talked like this before?" My thoughts spill out.
"Yeah" He say shrugging his shoulders and leaning back on the chair.
"So why all of a sudden are you being chill with me?" I ask.
"It's the alcohol, I got a little buzz going on" He replies turning his head to face me. I decide to get buzzed as well. This night has been too stressful And I have many more questions, but I'm scared of ruining this civil stage we are in right now. Plus it will be better if I just don't get involved from now on. That was enough adventure for a long time.
