"Wait! What do we tell the teacher if she asks us where we were?" I ask before walking into class.
"I don't care, just don't tell her that you were with me" He says pushing past me and walking in. I wait a few minutes after he walks in so the teacher doesn't think we were together. I inhale a deep breath and walk in.
"There you are Caitlyn" The teacher says right when I walk in. "Care to explain?" She asks folding her arms.
"I wasn't feeling well" I said trying to look as sick as possible. "So I went to the bathroom"
"If you are not feeling well then you know you are supposed to go to the nurse and let the teacher know" she said complains.
"Sorry" I say walking to the back to take a seat. Everyone was sitting with someone, even April. As I walk past her she give me a concerning look. I give her a smile showing her everything is okay. I take a seat and notice Austin seating alone across from me. Wow that's a first.
"Ok students start working." The teacher says. "Austin and Caitlyn, come to my desk so I can explain what is going on." She says walking back to her desk.
I stand up and walked to her desk while Austin joins me.
"Ok, so what you missed was an introduction to a new project." she says.
"In this project you will be researching a country, and finding some statistics. You will find, the climate there, the vegetation type, What region it is in, and just some history on it." I listened inattentively and nodded at her directions.
"You will also find the national bird, flower, emblem, etc." I nodded to show I understood. I guess this project wouldn't be that hard to do.
"You will have a partner, and research together, make a poster and present to the class, the project is due in three days. It's not a hard one." I guess I spoke too soon! Who is going to be my partner? I only talk to April and I guess the girl she was sitting with was her partner. My heart started beating faster as the teacher spoke.
"And since both of you were late, everybody already has a partner, so you two have no choice but to be partners." she said motioning her hands.
Austin and I froze.
