Zach was standing dressed casual clothes this morning.
His hair wasn't brushed or gelled away from this face this time and it fell around naturally, brushing this shoulders.
"Table for one?" she joked. He was looking even better today, she thought silently. No, stop it. Can't think of him that way, and anyway, I had turned him down in the first place!
"It could become table for two if you and I were to have a candlelit dinner tonight," he flirted, "but we both know that you're too mean to let this happen." He was joking, but she still blushed deeply.
"Please, take a seat," she gestured to her right.
"Thanks," he said, and sat in one that was next to the window.
"What would you like to order?" she asked kindly, the smile being able to go away from her face.
She got a small pad and a pen ready in her hands. "What will it be today?"
He laughed. "Do you really think that I came here to just have a cup of coffee and eat?" he asked, smiling.
She blinked a couple of times, not getting it.
"I came here to see you, silly," he answered his own question, grinning at her innocent nature.
"I – I – I ... erm," she stuttered, blushing.
"I was thinking ... that we could hang out for a bit," he suggested.
She didn't know what to think of that. "Hang out?" she asked carefully.
"I ... was feeling kind of lonely and wanted to come see you," he said. "Is that OK?"
"No, no, that's fine," she said quickly. She wished would smack some sense into her. How desperate had she just sounded? Very. She shook her head at herself ever so sightly.
"What time is your break?" he asked interestingly.
"Around twelve," she answered smiling. It was only quarter past eight.
"Great, I'll wait here for you," he stated, shifting himself in a more relaxing position.
"You can't wait that long for me, you'll get sick of sitting in one place for so long!" she cried. "Plus, you have to order something. Sitting idly is not a loud in here."
"Really?" he teased.
"Yep," she said, shrugging apologetically.
"In that case ... I'll have a cup of coffee," he said, "One sugar."
"Coming up," she said and couldn't help but smile wider, if that was possible. She wrote it down, ripped out the paper and passed it to someone on the other side of the counter. "One coffee with one sugar," she repeated to the male waiter, Malcolm.
A new pair of customers arrived and she tended to them quickly, taking them to their reserved table. They were a couple, she could tell by the way they stared at each other lovingly.
After taking their orders and giving the piece of paper to someone behind the counter, she couldn't help but glance back at Zach. He caught her eyes and smiled, tilting his head a bit, making her insides squirm.
