Zach has wanted to ask her if she was happy before she was going to step out of his car, but he changed it something less upfront. He wasn't being himself suddenly and felt unsure somewhat. He hadn't expected her to react that the way she did when he had kissed her. She hadn't kissed him back. H thought she really liked him as much as he liked her.
He watched Hira as she turned round, climbed out of the car and closed it after her. She moved past the small gate that lead her up to the front of the house. She looked back at him and he smiled at her. He drove away soon after that.
He knew that he loved her with all his heart after he had shared their first kiss, but ... something was missing. Something wasn't making proper sense to him and he had to find out what it was.
Why didn't return the kiss when she was clearly so into him? This confused him slightly.
Normally Hira would be smiling and blushing at him whenever they would meet up. He remembered the Café days. How happy had she been when he come to her workplace! And he always loved that about her, her adorable grin and the way she would watch him shyly.
Tonight, he hadn't felt anything from her in return.
Maybe he was making up unnecessary conclusions, because Hira might just be worried by Kael's behaviour and manners towards her. She was probably just worried.
Zach stopped in front of a set of traffic lights and checked the time on his watch; it was a little after half past ten. He sighed and closed his eyes for a moment to clear his mind. A car honked behind him and he opened his eyes and rolled the car forward, heading for home. What would he do back at the business party anyway? He wasn't in the mood for any mingling anymore.
He heard his phone buzzing and he picked it up from the dashboard. There was a message from Hira. Smiling, he checked it: Reach home safely. Thanks for dropping me off home. Take care.
A smile took over his features as he replied back: Sure, no problem. Almost home. Talk to you soon?
Not a moment long after he had sent his text back, another signaled her reply: OK, talk to you soon! His chuckled at the smiley emoticon displayed at the bottom of her message.
He was much happier after hearing from her, so to speak, and took this a sign from the Heaven's. A positive sign. He sent a short message back to her and slipped his phone into his pocket turning onto a street where his apartment was located. Then he parked his car and climbed out, taking out his keys with a light smile.
"Whatever happens, I won't give up on her," he said to himself and entered the building.
The inside of his building was quaint and spotless. Nobody lived in it except he himself. His parents were busy meeting other business parties abroad. So he always preferred to live on his own with his very own place to stay.
Slipping out of his shoes and blazer, he decided to take a shower and go to bed.
