Hira started crying quietly to herself after Kael had angrily walked out of the ward. She knew she shouldn't have had spoken harshly to him. After all, he meant well. However, she couldn't help but snap at him and piss him off.
I'm a horrible person, she thought. She tried getting up but her head hurt too much to move and it was bandaged. From what she could comprehend, she wasn't in a critical condition amazingly.
"Miss Kaif! I see you're up," the female doctor said observantly, carrying a clipboard and pen with her. "I'm Dr. Anniston," she added. She had dark blonde hair that was tied into a low bun at the nape of her neck. Aqua eyes shined from behind the black framed glasses as she adjusted them as she walked around her to the other side, checked her status and wrote something on the clipboard.
"Hello, Dr. Anniston," Hira's voice croaked slightly. "Ah ... what happened to me?"
"You were not paying attention I'm afraid," Dr. Anniston revealed. "The passerby's statements confirmed that you were walking aimlessly and fainted when you realised there was a car aiming towards you. You feel into shock, fainted, and hit your head on the ground."
"Oh..." Hira said, confused and feeling stupid. How could I have been so careless? she thought. And stupid!
"Yes," Dr. Anniston nodded, adjusting her glasses again and fixing her long, white doctor's coat. She picked up her clipboard again, examining it. She flipped through the papers and thoughtfully frowned. "You have not lost a lot of blood and your status is good. You've been asleep for over seven hours because we gave you plenty of Anesthetic and let you sleep to rest it off." She looked up from her papers, and asked, "How are you feeling?"
"Erm, my head hurts ... and my right ankle," Hira sniffled. "Other than that ... I'm good." I've turned into a liar, too. Her heart felt as if it was torn and miserable. She watched the doctor write something else down, too, and set down her clipboard on a nearby chair.
The doctor nodded with a grim mouth and tapped the penned on her chin. "You somehow sprained your ankle, too," she said. "The sprain will start to go away in a few days and your head injury will better if you take plenty of rest! Alright?"
"Yes, thank you," Hira smiled.
The doctor looked at her in sympathy and smiled. "You can't be alone in this situation," she explained, nodding. "You should have someone to take you home. Not tonight, since it's already after eleven and the hospital doesn't let visitors in at this time of the night. We will keep you until we're satisfied about your health and you're feeling much, much better. If you need anything press that button and the nurse will tend to your needs."
"O – OK," Hira said numbly. She couldn't believe that a whole day had passed her so quickly. Her family was probably extremely worried for her well-being. And Alec ... what had become of him?
"Is there anyone I can call for you?" Dr. Anniston queried.
"Well," Hira said, "there's my mum and sister. I don't want to worry them though."
"Nonsense, they should at least know where you are," Kael announced from the doorway, looking as tired as ever. His boots were echoing as he gradually entered the room. "I'll stay with her Doctor," he said, assuring the doctor.
"And you are...?" Dr. Anniston asked, looking from him to Hira.
"Ah, he's..." Hira was improperly cut in.
