As soon as Hira entered her home and closed the front door, her mother rushed over to her and hugged her. "Don't worry, Hira, we're here for you," she assured. "Do you want to drink or eat something?" she asked.
Hira shook her head. "What were they saying?" she asked, referring to the Police.
"They want to talk to you about the case you've applied for against him," her mother explained, and lead the way into the living-room. She sat down on the sofa and rubbed her hands as if they were cold.
Hira put her shopping bag on the floor and took the seat on the opposite sofa. "That's it?" she demanded.
"That's it," her mother concurred obviously. "We should set off now."
"Yes, we should," Hira sighed and leaned back. She closed her eyes for a moment to clear her head and push away the consternation. "I just want to get this over with, mum," she confided.
"I know, sweetie," her mother sighed
Hira opened her eyes and stood up. She helped her mum. "Let go," she nodded determinedly.
Her mother nodded back thankfully, and told Hiba where they were going and to stay in. Hiba had called her over, and after a brief conversation, she came back with her jacket on. She grabbed her keys from her purse and went out the door.
Hira followed her mother outside and closed the door after them, and got in the passenger seat. Her mother was already in the driver's seat. "Let's go, mum, we have some pay back," Hira stated.
Her mother smiled in reply, though her eyes were stone-cold. "Daniel will not hurt you again, Hira," she affirmed, and started the engine. She used the automatic buttons to open her side of the window halfway. "Not while I'm alive," she completed her sentence. She drove away from the footpath and turned onto the main road.
Within twenty minutes they had reached the Police Station and were sitting in car, watching the building to their left. They had only been in the car for about a minute.
"Ready?" Her mother asked caringly.
"No," Hira admitted, "But if I don't kill my fears and get through this, I never will." She glanced at her mother and gave her an assuring look.
"Be strong, I will always be here," her mother said. "Don't let Daniel scare you off, that's what he wants. And trust Him." She pointed at the sky.
"I prayed to God in my heart to give me courage and to help me lock away that Danny. Thanks, mum, I appreciate you being with me, but..." Hira whispered, staring up at the building. "I need to do this alone..."
"If that's what you want. All the best."
Hira smiled to herself and got out of the car and entered through the double doors. She looked around and went to the front desk to ask for help. She explained why she was here and was called in for regarding the case against Danny, and the Policeman behind the desk told her where to go to see the Inspector. Nodding – and slightly nervous since this was the first time in an actual Police Station – she followed the instructions.
When she reached the office door, it said; Inspector B. Lambert. She knocked on the door once, and entered after a voice said to enter. She stepped into the small medium sized office and observed. The walls were the neutral colour that were outside and were plain. Then her eyes went to the person sitting behind the desk looking over a file.
