If you had to describe your lover as a season, it would be summer. That was the season where you two met for the first time at your college orientation. You were in the same orientation group and immediately clicked when they made a pop culture reference that you understood.

The two of you were excited when you found out that you would be living not only in the same dorm building but also on the same floor! As school actually started, you two were each other's bad influence, convincing the other to skip classes where attendance isn't apart of the grade.

After finishing your first year of university, that's when you expressed your romantic feelings for them. They also shared that they felt the same way and they're been your love ever since. At first you were afraid that this would only a summer fling but as the season went by, you were falling hard for them.

Today was a beach day for the two of you and you both were soaking up the sun, after putting on sunscreen of course. You suddenly remembered hearing a bunch of students talk about transferring out of your university so you asked your lover about their plans.

"You don't plan on transferring schools, right?" You asked them.

"Why? You'll miss me too much if I go too far?" They asked smugly. You slightly lowered your sunglasses to give them a deadpan expression before sliding them back up in place.

"Don't get all smug on me now, you know there's people talking about leaving so I was just curious."

"And where would I go?" They asked, sitting up. You shrugged your shoulders dramatically.

"How would I know? Maybe you want to venture elsewhere."

"Nah, I'm good where I am. I'd leave if you said you were though." You sat up after hearing this relevation.

"But what if wherever I go doesn't have your major?" You challenged but they shrugged their shoulders nonchalantly.

"I'll figure it out. I barely did classes for my major anyways so I'll be fine."

"Well it's good you don't have to worry about that because I'm not transferring out anytime soon."

"Great, because I would kinda maybe sort of miss you or whatever." They said, trying to sound uninterested but you can see them biting back a smile.

"Right..." You said, rolling your eyes.

As you two got older and graduated college, you were still dating. Instead of trying to convince each other to skip class, you two are telling each other the drama going on at your respective jobs.

One day after work, you picked them up at their job and strolled down the boulevard in search of dinner for the night. After seeing a spot that looked quite appealing, you pulled into the parking lot and entered the restaurant. Taking in the scenery, your significant other led you away to a table by a window.

Once you both placed your orders, they started to share the events of their work day. As they were talking, you were taking in all of their features. The lighting in the restaurant really enhanced it and you found yourself falling in love with them all over again.

"Hello? Earth to ______?" They asked, snapping you out of your daze.

"Huh, oh, I'm sorry." You apologized, smiling awkwardly.

"You know, I'd give up anything to travel inside that mind of yours."

"Why is that?"

"Half of the time you're lost in thought so I'm just curious."

You didn't get a chance to respond as your food was brought to the table. They gave you a summary of what they were rambling about previously as you two enjoyed your meals. After finishing and paying, you drove them home. At a random red light, you remembered that you didn't get a chance to respond.

"You know what I was thinking about when I zoned out at the restaurant?"

"Hmm, let me guess." They pondered for a brief moment as the light turned green and you continued the drive.

"I think you were thinking that I'm the most beautiful human being in this entire galaxy and that you are so lucky to be in the same time period as me." You couldn't give them a look of digust so you had to resort to a fake gag sound.

"Disgusting but honestly, it's the same idea realm. Just not as dramatic and theatrical as yours." They whipped their head to the side to look at you.

"Then what was it exactly?"

"I was thinking about how I manage to fall in love with you every summertime."

"Eh, mine was much better."

"Hey!" You said, punching their arm. They exclaimed, saying that it hurt. You laughed, glad that it hurt.

"I was kidding!"

"Mhmm, not buying it but okay."

"But for real ____, you are one of the best things that as ever happened to me. You're my summertime."

"And you're mine." You turned and smiled at them. They returned the smile, the tips of their ears slightly turning red. In a few minutes, you arrived at their house.

"Well, here you are."

"Yeah, I had a great time tonight."

"So did I."

You two sat in silence, not wanting to say goodbye just yet. They pulled you in for a breathtaking kiss and then quickly getting out the card.

"Bye, let me know when you get home!" You didn't say a word as you nodded your head, locking the doors and drove off. A short while later, you finally made it home. Once you parked the car in the garage, you rushed inside and texted your lover that you made it home. Flopping down on the couch, you were finally able to think about what happened before you headed home. You bit back a smile but it still spread across your face.

The old sayings were right, you really can fall in love multiple times and you happen to do it every summer with them.
