Kang Jiwoo had always been the most diplomatic of the three. She was very serious and she was the first to think about the correct action for the good of the kingdom. Kang Taehyun was also diplomatic, but at the same time, he always found a way to be less serious about it. Kang (Y/N) definitely put the effort in, but that was all that could be said. She never excelled in her lessons, nor did she excel in anything to do with the kingdom. Her effort was the only thing that guarded her from the harsh criticisms of the people. She had very few traits of royalty and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't fix the things that made her unworthy, and that was why she was to be married away as soon as possible. She had just turned 18, and her father already had plans to marry her away, and he had for a while.
"I assure you, I'm putting in the effort," (Y/N) told her sister.
"You always put in the effort, yet the results never reflect it," her older sibling chided. "If you wish to become a useful asset to the kingdom, you will present yourself as such. The Steward should not have to wake you each morning."
The youngest princess found her voice caught in her throat. Despite her best efforts, she always found the Steward rousing her awake each morning. Despite her best efforts, she could never wake on her own as both of her siblings could.
"You're simply lucky that you would marry the youngest Choi sibling. Had you married someone of the same status as Prince Yeonjun, the kingdom would be doomed," she scoffed, cutting a piece of food.
"(Y/N), my dear sister, enjoy the life of a Royal without the pressure of being the heir to the throne," Taehyun sighed.
As much as it seemed like her siblings offered her well wishes, she could not help but feel insulted. It choked her up and brought tears to her eyes.
"I seem to have lost my appetite. Please excuse me." Her words were barely a whisper as she stood from her seat, exiting the dining room.
Once the princess exited the dining room, she took a moment to collect herself and maintain decorum in front of the castle staff. She began to walk through the castle halls without an escort, something that was unusual for the princess seeing as she got lost, even in her own castle. As she turned the corner, she was greeted with unfamiliar faces and their company. Despite the lack of familiarity, she knew exactly who they were. It was King Choi, his sons, and his company. The princess tensed in surprise.
"Your highness," she greeted, bowing her head with a curtsey.
"You must be the youngest daughter of King Sewon," King Choi observed, having met Jiwoo before.
"Indeed, I am," she responded, putting on her most courteous smile.
"These are my sons, Prince Yeonjun, and Prince Beomgyu."
The princess took a moment to assess her future betrothed. His hair was long and it hung slightly in front of his eyes. His crown was beautiful with pink jewels that accented the accessory. There was a scar on his right eyebrow that was faintly noticeable. It piqued the princesses curiosity. Should she have time to speak with the Prince, she planned to ask about it.
"Welcome to our kingdom," she greeted. "Were you not greeted by Royal escorts?"
"We've already had word with the king. We are on our way to prepare Yeonjun for his wedding," the king told her.
"Then I shall let you be on your way. We shall meet again at the festivities."
The princess was hit with immense relief as the group walked away from her. She made her way to her room so that she could calm down before time came to prepare herself. By the time she had reached her room, the maids had already filled a bath basin to help the princess wash. She bathed in her warm bath using lavish soaps, and once she was finished, she was sprayed with lavish perfumes. Her skin was silky smooth. The maids applied makeup and once her hair dried, they braided and twisted it into a hard to obtain hairstyle. Once her hair was finished, she was put back in her corset once again. She held the bedposts as the maid behind her tugged harder and harder, each tug constricting her airflow.
The dress she wore was lavish, but not too lavish as to upstage the bride. Even the hips didn't flare out as dramatically as she was used to.
The frenzy of the servants about the castle made time fly by as everyone got ready for the wedding. After the two were betrothed, there was to be a parade to allow the villagers to celebrate the married couple and after the parade, all of the high class would come back to the castle for a banquet.
The princess was certain that her fate was already decided. There was no way that Jiwoo would allow this marriage to fail. The youngest princess had accepted her fate and was prepared to be betrothed to the younger Prince Choi.
