The castle was abuzz the next morning. Everyone was merry in spirit and smiles seemed to be commonplace that morning. Maids hummed as they cleaned, wiping dust off of the window sills as they smiled happily, skipping off to do their next labour intensive chore. The sun shone through the windows, lighting up every corner, bringing a gentle warmth to all those it reached.
It was an unspoken rule that if the royal family was happy, so were the staff of the castle, and that morning was no different. From the moment Prince Soobin had stepped out of his room with a bright smile on this face, gently bowing his head at every staff member who passed, giving them short waves as a greeting, every staff member had also found themselves smiling.
When news spread from the kings maids that the King had approved of Princess (Y/N), the staff of the castle finally understood why Prince Soobin was in such Merry spirits. Not every staff had become acquainted with the princess, but those who did also found themselves happy.
Bahiyyih found herself skipping down the hallway happily. She definitely liked serving the princess. It was a change from her regular duties and she loved it. Ever since the queen had passed, she had been stuck helping the kitchen staff with serving their meals and then cleaning up afterwards and whilst she appreciated the work, she didn't particularly like it. She did like dealing with the princess's affairs. Any time the princess needed something done, Bahiyyih would be the one to do it which meant she would take on a variety of tasks.
Seeing as it was just after lunch time, Bahiyyih decided that she would check on the princess to see if she had awoken. She knew that Namjoon was doing his own studies in the library as he awaited her so he wasn't too worried about when she came to do her studies. Bahiyyih thoughts that was nice for the princess, seeing as she had the habit of sleeping in. Bahiyyih couldn't blame her. She would do the same thing if she were allowed.
She raised her fist to the door and gently tapped three times, waiting for a response. If she didn't get one, she would go back to her work and return later to try again. Thankfully, the princess asked for her name, and then welcomed her in.
"Ms Bahiyyih! Good morning!" She smiled, opening the door for the maid in front of her.
"Good morning, my lady," she smiled, bowing at the princess. "I've come to help you get ready for the day."
The princess replied with a nod and allowed Bahiyyih into the room to go about her work. Bahiyyih immediately went to the closet and chose some casual wear for the princess. She knew that the princess had no formal affairs to take care of, so she picked something more comfortable, a dress that was fit at the bodice and loose and flowy at the skirt. The sleeves of the dress were fit until they reached the elbow and then they flared out from there. It was a beautiful dress.
"How was your meeting with the King, my lady?" Bahiyyih asked as she readied everything she needed for the princess.
"It went wonderfully. He is a very kind man," she told the maid. "I was very nervous about meeting him, but as soon as I saw him, I felt that anxiety melt away. He is such a comforting presence. He seemed sickly, which makes me quite sad. I hope to get to know him better in the time coming."
Bahiyyih ushered the princess to sit down near the vanity so she could help her put on her stockings. As she grabbed the ribbon, she remembered what the princess had asked her the previous day.
"My lady?" She began. "Would you like to learn how to tie a bow today?"
"Oh yes!" The princess gasped excitedly.
"I learned how to do them using a bit of a rhyme. Before you do the rhyme, you just have to put the ribbon under your knee and bring the two ends to the front. Next you cross them and tuck one underneath, then you pull them to tighten it. Then you start the rhyme. Bunny ears, bunny ears, playing by a tree. Criss-crossed the tree, trying to catch me," she started, making two loops and then crossing them over each other. "Bunny ears, bunny ears, jumped into the hole, popped out the other side beautiful and bold." She finished, displaying a beautifully tied knot.
