A night, such as the one that hung over the village on this particular night, would come silently and welcome comfort and sleep. This night, however, had the people buzzing about. The people had dressed in their best clothing, ready to attend the celebration held by the royal family. There was a hint of black in each garment for the purpose of the place that grief had in such an important day. The darkness was typically just a small piece of the darker Autumn colours, usually consisting of browns, dark greens, and maroons. They were lively colours that were similar to the colours of the nature that surrounded them as they waited to enter the castle.

Kids ran about, playing with their friends until they were snatched by their parents who harshly whispered about the formality of the event. The children were told to act properly as they entered the castle, despite the curious nature of the children.

It was the voices of the children that buzzed the most over the crowd as the gasped in awe at the decorations, illuminated by the lit sconces. Autumn coloured garland had been wrapped around said sconces, trailing from one to the next. The large curtains had been changed to curtains of a different colour.

As they passed the knights, they wore metal armour, but the people found their eyes attracted to the chest plate which was engraved with a large leaf that was flowing and folding in the wind. No two plates were exactly the same indicating that the engravings were done by hand. The maids that led the villagers into the ballroom all wore the same outfit. Their underdresses were black and the overdresses tied at the waist like a corset. Those who were meant to lead the people to the ballroom wore a burnt orange overdress. Those tasked with cleaning wore a forest green overdress. Those tasked with handing out drinks and meals wore a maroon overdress.

The orange candlelight from the chandelier in the ballroom was perfectly fitting. There were more garlands placed around the room, colours matched with those of the curtains and the tablecloths. Though it was missed by most, the minute detail of the black candles being burnt instead of the traditional white wax candles showed that the royal family spared no expenses for this event.

The foods that were being given out were well beyond the expectation of the villagers. They were unused to such lavish foods. Previously the palace had just served great quantities of normal foods, but this time, they had foods that the villagers had never even heard of.

The wait was making the princess nervous. She wished to see the reaction of the people so she would know if she had messed up. She had never planned such an event before and whilst she stayed well within the budget, she feared that she had done too much. Or perhaps she hadn't done enough. That is what she wished to figure out, but Hiyyih informed her that she had done perfectly fine. Despite the multiple bouts of anxiety about how much she had spent, or how much she had done, Hiyyih was always there to calm her, and for that, the princess was grateful.

Because of Hiyyih's diligence, and her role as the assistant of the princess, she was given the honour of wearing a navy blue overdress. She would be one of the three staff wearing that colour.

Hiyyih was sure that the princess would outshine everyone in the event. She had been told that the prince found a tailor to make a dress especially for the princess and this event, and the tailor made certain that no one would question the status of the princess. The sleeves were black and tight fit, an abnormality considering all her other dresses had large sleeves. The edges of the sleeves did flare out and on the edges were hand embroidered leaves of various Autumn colours. The bodice was also made of these hand embroidered leaves. It did not look as clean as her other dresses, considering the lack of a solid line where her bodice began. Instead it looked as if leaves had been sewed into a dress with no clear pattern. The skirt flared out from under the bodice and it was a maroon colour with dark orange and gold waves of a sheer fabric, as if she had waterfalls of colour cascading from her skirt. Finally, in the empty areas of the skirt, it had been embellished with sunflowers and other similarly coloured faux plants. The tailor made an extravagant and breathtaking dress and the sight of the princess with a hairpin made of flowers holding some of her hair out of her face, was equally as extravagant and breathtaking.
