"Hiyyih?"
"Yes Ms (Y/N)?"
"Could you explain it to me once more?"
"The Autumn Equinox is celebrated as a way of honouring the deaths of our people. The Spring Equinox is more favourably celebrated, however we choose to acknowledge that life and death come hand in hand. Mr Kim from the library believes that all energy remains constant, it's just a matter of what happens to the energy after you die. I've never fully understood what he says. It seems he forgets I'm a servant. Nonetheless, his theory has become the basis of our celebration. The Autumn Equinox is the gifting of energy to the world. We celebrate to gift all the energy we can to the world so it has enough to bring back our loved ones. Does that all make sense?"
"I think so..."
"Mr Kim from the library should be able to explain it better. I apologize but Mr Kim's studies are far too advanced for me to understand. He uses words I've never heard of."
"Then I suppose I shall go to the library."
"Ms (Y/N), would you like me to call someone to escort you?"
The princess took a moment to think as Hiyyih made her way to the door, prepared to call for one of the castle staff to escort the princess to the library, as she usually did.
"No. I think today I will try to get there on my own."
"Should you need any help, ask any of the staff and they shall direct you."
"Thank you Hiyyih. I will speak with you again later."
The princess had lived in a castle her whole life. Having such a wide expanse of free range and an endless amount of hallways with no ability to properly explore always had her getting lost. She would make one turn and forget where she started. Needless to say her sense of direction was awful and it made her nervous. She knew a few short routes to the dining area in her old castle in the north, but that was all. One wrong turn and she was completely turned around. That's why it was such a big deal when she made it to the library on her own. There was a moment halfway through her leisurely walk where she grew nervous seeing that she didn't remember where she was. Instead of panicking, she took a deep breath and turned around, walking back the same way until she knew where she was. Within a short period of time, she'd made it to the library.
"Mr Kim!" She gasped as she rushed through the towering doors.
"You're eager to see me today, aren't you?" He chuckled, filing through sheets of paper before grabbing one out of the middle of the stack without even glancing at it. He then gently ran his fingers over the edges of several books, some splayed open, others closed neatly. Without even looking at it, Namjoon pulled a book from the unkempt pile, as if he were completely organized it what others would think is chaos.
"I made my way here without an escort!" She giggled, hopping to land across from Namjoon on the other side of the table.
"That's amazing," Namjoon smiled, taking a moment to look her in the eyes to show how genuine he was.
"Perhaps I'll visit the gardens by myself tomorrow," she told him, sitting down in a chair across from him. "I have a few questions to ask, Mr Kim."
"Of course. I'll answer to the best of my abilities." Namjoon placed his books back down in the giant pile that didn't seem to have any sense of organization.
"Could you tell me about the Autumn Equinox?"
"Of course. Before we can discuss the Autumn Equinox, however, we must discuss energy conservation," he started, standing from his chair as he prepared to lecture the princess. "I have come up with the theory that energy cannot be created, nor destroyed. Only transferred."
