They quickly ran through the forest, going far into the woods. I watched slowly before backing up and following them. I made sure I could still see them in sight. I stabbed any of them who got too close. We kept running downhill, till we were out of breath. They were in tears, both fearful. At this point I was sweating. "Look!", one of the girls yelled, pointing out. I looked where she pointed at; it was a school. "Come on!", they said. However I was hesitant, but I would soon agree. We ran up the field, hurrying up. When we were close I could see people on top. We got to the top, where the people could see us. They helped us out thankfully, saving us. But they were quite weird. I sat against the school sign and a lady came over. "Here you go dear!". She handed me a water bottle which I gladly drank. I was so tired, so exhausted. I felt the girls next to me. "Miss?", they questioned. "What?", I replied. "What is your name?". "Jay, what is yours?". "I'm Abby! And my sister is Clair.", they both smiled. I nodded to them, till I heard some commotion happening and looked over. "Oh god.", I whispered. "What's wrong?" Clair asked. "We need to go now.", I said. "What? Why? We just got here.", Clair said, confused. I looked over again and saw a man staring at me. I looked over next to him, and there was a freak near him. As I scrambled to my feet, I yelled, "Let's go!". The girls nodded and stood up. The man I saw was gone, only to turn around to see him right in front of me. I jumped obviously startled. He was a bigger man with a blonde mullet. The girls stayed behind me. "What's the rush?", the man said. "We're leaving-", I said harshly. He smiled and backed up. "I'd be careful, for some weird people are out there.". I sent him a glare, and made the girls walk in front of me. As I followed behind them I felt a hard tug on my arm. It was an old lady, grabbing me tight with her harsh hand. "Leaving so soon?", she spoke. Her smile sent chills. I took a glance at her arm. It was bleeding with a gabbing hole..It was a bite mark. She was sweating, her face looking pale. I pulled back harshly. "What's wrong?", her voice was off. She sounded like she had a stuffy nose. I backed away from her, disgust written on my face. I felt sick to my stomach; I could vomit. I've seen those freaks up close but never saw a bite. She walked closer to me. I told the girls to go and pulled my pocket knife out for protection. I looked around and noticed everyone looked sick. I waved the pocket knife in front of her, making her freeze. "We're just trying to end this apocalypse", she said. "By turning them into freaks!", I yelled. "There are no freaks!". Her smile went frown, as an angry look fell on her face. "Then what do you call them?", I asked. "What do you mean?", the woman replied. "What are they to you?". "They're people", she explained. "They're dying!", I screamed at her, which I soon would regret. As she jumped at me. We were both on the ground, and at that moment I felt her hit me. My head fell to the left. That's when I saw an old man groaning and walking towards us. "get off!", I yelled. She ignored me. I saw the man get closer and closer. At the right moment I shoved her off of me, and into the freak I scattered and ran. The girls were waiting by the fence for me. "C'mon! Go!", I yelled at them, as they ran with me. Me being ahead slightly of them. Abby slipped, falling behind. I quickly went back and took both of their hands, continuing to run. Once we were far away enough I slumped against a tree. Thankfully it wasn't as snowy over here due to the branches. I sat down and put my face into my hands, feeling the girls sit by me.
