When Willow woke up the next morning Paul was gone, and Koda had made her pancakes. Willow tried to excuse herself, but Koda refused to let her leave until she had eaten. Koda's small dining room table was set with bacon, eggs, pancakes, and cups of orange juice.

"You still enjoy banana pancakes, right?" Koda asked as she sat down across from him. She nodded without looking up from her empty plate. "Good. I was hoping I remembered that correctly."

Willow sat in silence without moving to add anything to her plate. She was afraid that at any moment she was going to burst into tears again. Her chest ached with a pain she had never felt before in her life. Koda noticed her stillness and took it upon himself to fill her plate with food.

"Thank you." She whispered when he sat it Infront of her.

"You have to eat, little tree." Koda's voice was gentle and even though she didn't look up at him she did pick up her fork. The two of them ate in silence and when Willow tried to stand up after a few bites Koda made a noise in his throat. It wasn't scolding but a noise of warning almost that made Willow settle back down and eat more.

"Are you really a witch?" Willow asked when Koda started clearing the table.

"I guess the correct term is warlock. But I could really careless for labels." Koda shrugged after he placed the plates in the sink. Willow watched him as he opened the window before pulling a pack of cigarettes out of his tattered jean pocket. "You want one?"

"I stopped smoking." Willow muttered.

She watched as he effortlessly flipped open his zippo and lit the end of his cigarette. For the first time that morning Willow truly looked at him. His hair was free of any confines and cascaded down his back. His jeans were tattered, torn, and faded with a pair of thick black boots on his feet. His t-shirt was dark gray and tight across his torso and on his biceps. His fingers were dressed with silver rings. Willow could see the tattoos on his forearm and a few that peaked out of his collar.

"Is Paul really a werewolf?" Willow asked when she finally pulled her eyes away from him. Koda laughed and smoke poured past his lips and Willow couldn't help but smile at the joyful sound.

"Oh yes. I received my lecture this morning for letting that slip to you." Koda smiled bright before putting the cigarette back between his lips.

"I'm sorry." Willow lowered her eyes to her bandage wrapped hands in her lap.

"It's not your fault. Sam is the one with a sick up his ass." His words made her snort out a half laugh.

"Thank you for healing my hands." Willow lifted her head to meet his gaze. His brown eyes softened, and he placed the last bit of the burning bud into the glass ashtray beside the window.

"Anytime." He shrugged and buried his hands into his pockets. "Although, your hands are going to need the bandages changed every couple days to avoid scaring."
