"Gohan, that's... Not it..." Videl sighed, pushing the boy away. Gohan furrowed his brows, trying to understand why Videl was so upset. Was there something he had missed? Something he couldn't see?
"What is it then? Can't you tell me?" He asked, trying to reach for her again, but she stepped just out of his reach.
"Gohan, I need to ask you something, and you had better be honest about it." Videl said, her voice quiet, knowing it would crack should she speak any louder. Gohan stood straight up, nodding as he nervously sweatdropped. There was a long, silent pause before Videl took in a deep breath, continuing. "You don't like Y/n, right? Do you have a crush on her?"
Gohan's breath got caught in his throat as he failed to process his thoughts in time, blurting out the first thing he could think of. "I-I don't know! Why would you ask me that?"
Videl's face practically went pale at that, the complete opposite of Gohan's deep red face. She groaned, pinching the bridge of her nose, wishing she hadn't woken up that morning. If she had known this would happen, she would have run away.
"Wait..." Gohan had begun to put two and two together, butterflies erupting in his chest. He had never seen or dealt with anything like this, he only ever read books on how physical attraction worked in humans. Was that how it would even work for Gohan? He had never seen either Vegeta or his own father act like they were physically attracted to their wives. He even wondered how Goku married Chi-Chi at times.
"G-Gohan, I—" Videl had tried to lie her way through it, not wanting to give away her feelings or possibly ruin their friendship because of her feelings. However, it had been too late as Gohan cut her off, looking into her eyes. He looked distrought.
"Do you like me, Videl?" He asked. Videl clenched her fists, holding her breath as she tried to think of a way out of her predicament. But unfortunately, she found none, only able to stare at Gohan with wide eyes.
"Gohan... I..." Videl looked down at the floor, trying to contain her panic. Her eyes glossed over as she began to feel like her heart was ripping in two. "I think I started to like you around the time of the World Tournament. Just... How brave and strong you were... I thought you were amazing..."
"Videl..." Gohan reached out to her, grabbing her arms. He wasn't sure what to say or what to do. Was he even physically capable of letting someone down? He had never done it before. But he didn't want Videl to be stuck in a one-sided relationship. He held no type of attraction to her, at least he didn't think so. He wasn't sure how Saiyan attraction worked.
"Gohan, I can tell that you like Y/n, even if... I thought we had more special moments together." Videl chuckled, running her fingers through her short, black hair. "I even cut my hair for you, I thought that was your type."
"I-I'm sorry, Videl—" Gohan tried to apologize, but was cut off as Videl suddenly leaned forward, planting her lips on his cheek. His face lit up like a light as he tried to stay calm, not wanting to hurt her feelings.
"At least give me a chance. Let me prove I can make you happy and be a good girlfriend. I promise I'll win you over and show you how happy I can make you." Videl said as she grabbed Gohan's hands, giving him a warm smile. Her cheeks were lightly dusted pink, her stomach doing flips as she felt like she was getting jolts of shock. She had never confessed or done anything like this in her life, this was a brand new experience. And it felt wonderful to her. Gohan, on the other, wasn't so sure, but he couldn't bring himself to reject her.
