Penny was in the middle of a packing. She wouldn't leave for another week, had enough time for all the formalities, actually enough time for everything, but was still stressed. She had to pick out the most important things she wanted to take with her on her trip. She had to be prepared, already choose what she would wear this week and what would definitely come with her.
Hectically, she rummaged around in her room, listening to music on her holoscreen. With all the jumbled, overwhelming thoughts running nonstop in her head, music was the only thing that could calm her down.
But the relaxing atmosphere was abruptly interrupted when the soft melody stopped. Instead, the typical beeping sounded as a call came in. Kayla finally called and Penny couldn't wait to tell her everything.
Penny had long since gotten her two pigtails back, but she was still wearing her interview outfit because she hadn't gotten around to changing. She still couldn't believe it all anyway.
"Hey Kayla," she screeched as she excitedly took the call. Kayla immediately squealed eagerly.
"AAAAhhh. Oh. My. God!" Penny screeched along.
"AAAAAhhh, I know!" Enthusiastically, she bounced around the room. "I still can't believe it! I'm going to Paris!"
"Really, the scholarship is in Paris?" asked Kayla in surprise.
"Oh yeah, the designer said he'd email me more info. I'm just going to get the most important stuff together," Penny said dreamily and flopped down on her bed. Then she quickly rose again and sat upright in front of the holoscreen.
"Wait, I told you I wanted to show him the dress so he could get the best impression."
"Yea, and?" Kayla was sitting on pins and needles, and Penny was apparently only making it worse with her secrecy.
"Here!" she exclaimed excitedly. So far she had been too shy to show her creations even to Kayla, so until now she didn't know what the garment looked like, neutrally speaking. And actually Kayla knew a lot about fashion and the latest trends.
Penny quickly picked up the red dress that she had shown off today and held it in front of her body.
"Looks great, doesn't it?" she said with conviction, turning happily. Kayla couldn't get a word out.
"You did that yourself?" she marveled.
"Well, not quite, I just ... uh ... jazzed it up a bit," Penny said casually, carefully putting the dress back on its hanger before running her hands over the soft fabric again in a relaxed manner.
"I can't believe it! And the designer liked it?"
"He meant he'd never chosed anyone so quickly before!" said Penny with excitement. The holoscreen emitted another beep.
"Hmm, an email," she noted. "That must be Mr. Brook's!" she then exclaimed happily, opening it immediately.
"Mr. Brook it is," Kayla said slowly.
"What exactly are you implying?" asked Penny skeptically, definitely noticing the particular undertone in Kayla's voice.
"Was he hot? What's his first name? Is he a famous designer?" gushed Kayla.
"Well, he wasn't bad looking, but EEEWWW Kayla! He's like thirty! I'm sixteen. You're out of your mind sometimes," Penny laughed indignantly, pointing at her temple in amusement as Kayla doubled over in her desk chair laughing. "Besides, he seemed a bit too monotone to me. His first name was Tom and he's at least famous enough to work with Gabriel Agreste!" she squealed excitedly again after rattling off the information.
