Sonny brushed the hair back from Alexis face and put another cold pack on her forehead. They'd been up most of the night - mostly the nausea and a bad headache that he was pretty sure resulted from dehydration. She wasn't even keeping water down. He was worried.
He'd woken up about an hour earlier, her head snuggled into his chest, and just laid there with her, breathing her in, and hoping that his presence was bringing her some sort of comfort. Sonny knew how weak she was, but he also knew that at least the sleep meant she wasn't feeling the nausea. He couldn't help but want the details of her diagnosis. When had she found out how sick she was? Who had been taking her to these procedures when no one in her immediate family was aware of what was happening to her?
Sonny had been woken up by the ding of his phone alerting him to a text from Jason.
When we're about an hour from the campsite. We won't have service once we arrive. Do you know how much fun it is to try and wake up two teenage girls after they've stayed up most of the night chatting and giggling with their sister? Sonny had chuckled, trying not to wake Alexis with the movement. I hope Alexis is feeling better this morning. If she's still sick you might want to call her doctor or convince her to go to urgent care. She could be dehydrated. Seemed like a really bad stomach flu. I'll contact you on my way back into civilization tomorrow.
Sonny was relieved that Jason had assumed that Alexis had something easily fixable, an illness that would run its course, and heal on its own. He knew that Jason wouldn't mention anything to Sam, thinking it was nothing serious, and knowing Sonny was with Alexis in case things got worse. Jason had validated what his instinct had nudged him toward as he looked down at the phone in his hand – he was going to have to call her doctor. It was pretty easy to find her doctor's name on one of the many bottles of medicine she'd been hiding from the girls and a quick search on his phone produced the direct number to the oncology office at General Hospital. Sonny leaned over and kissed Alexis's cheek.
I didn't want you to think about your mother. Alexis's words echoed in his head. He wouldn't lose her, too.
"I'm sorry, beautiful." He said, squeezing her hand. "Please don't be too mad at me." He felt her wiggle slightly and then settle under his touch.
Sonny stepped outside the glass door, keeping his eyes on her, as he hit the button on his cell.

"What do you mean you can't talk with me about her condition?"
"We've already been over this, sir. You aren't an immediate family member and even if you were, Ms. Davis has expressed implicitly audibly and in written form that her treatment was only to be discussed with one person outside of the medical team – her emergency contact."
"And her emergency contact is?" He asked in frustration.
"I can't tell you that information, sir."
"Dammit." He whispered. "Listen, I am standing right next to Ms. Davis. She has been sick all night from the chemo. She is very weak. I need some options here. I can't sit here and watch her suffer."
"There isn't much else I can do on my end, sir. It is the weekend. You can bring her in to the emergency room or I connect you with the nurse on call, however, the nurse will not be able to give you any infor –"
"Great! Do that. Connect me with the nurse on call. Now. Please." Sonny stepped back through the door that led from the deck to Alexis' bedroom and held tight to her hand. He listened as the administrator hit a few buttons and the phone began to ring through to the on call nurse.
