The tears that slid down your cheeks had different meanings. Sometimes they were a sign of sadness, grief, stress, overwhelmingness, fear and anger. But sometimes those tears meant happiness, gratefulness and peace.

This time, you felt your heart throb and your vision start to get foggy, your hands shaking and your jaw trembling. It was deep into the night and you had awoken from a nightmare. The day of the accident.

It was supposed to be like any other day, the holidays had just begun and you and your mom were getting ready to go for a night drive as you did sometimes. You loved your mom, she was the sweetest soul. She could always tell when you were upset or stressed, her ways of comfort always made you feel much better. She was such a warm person with so much love to give to everyone around her. It made you miss her more thinking about what an amazing person she was. A true angel sent from heaven.

Remembering how your dad twirled your mom around in the bookstore, treating her like a true queen. The tears started to increase and the throb in your heart became bigger as you remembered everything about her. Her warm hugs, her wide smile, the accident took it all.

It was a drunk driver, someone who wasn't in the right mind to drive had hit the both of you. You weren't supposed to survive either, it was a miracle that you did, your mom on the other hand hadn't gotten so lucky. You wiped your eyes with your hands but the emotions didn't get any calmer. You decided to get some fresh air as you took the jacket on the side chair and got out of your room, tears still sliding one by one down your cheeks.

You were a mess, making your way around the halls to get up to the rooftop slightly trembling while walking.

Finally getting up you looked at the sky, it was jet black yet the small stars that were barely visible made it so beautiful.

"I'm gonna live mom. Im going to do it all for you, dad and Hina."

You laid down staring at the sky. Raising your arm and spreading your hand in the distance. The stars really did make the night sky so beautiful. Your tears started to slowly decrease and your heart still beating so loud you could clearly hear it but the throb had gone away. You eyes were still puffy from all the tears that had rushed out but you could still see the night clearly. Most stars were small and barely visible but one shined brighter than all the others.

"You're a star [Name], always remember that." Remembering your dear mothers words as you slowly drifted off to sleep watching that one star that shined brighter than the rest.

You were going to make it out of here, for her and everyone that was waiting for you in the real world. They were your reason for living.

The poolside party music was what woke you up in the morning. Had you seriously fallen asleep out here? You started to stretch as you brought yourself back from dreamland, your eyes were still puffy from before and you could see a silhouette in the distance but you had trouble seeing who it was. You rubbed your eyes and slowly got up to clear your vision.

"Oh you're up! I had start to think you weren't going to wake up at all." It was a tall woman with dreadlocks who now was waving to you as she approached you.

"I'm Kuina and you are?" She asked.

"I'm [Name], its nice to meet you." You swore you had seen her before around here.. then you remembered! She was the woman who was talking to chishiya last night by the lobby.

The two of you started talking and surprisingly it was much far from awkward, kuina was outgoing and could keep the conversation flowing easily. By the end of it the two of you were sitting in your room giggling while playing "smash or pass" with the beach members.
