Y/n's POV
It's a tedious day. Carson and I are at our assigned posts for the day. We unfortunately drew the short straw and got stuck with probably the most boring assignment ever. Standing by for any emergency escorts of anomalies, which is rarely needed by the way. Since, almost all of the anomalies at this site are Keters and Euclids, meaning transport is only necessary for recontainment attempts. We stand in one of the corridors leading to Compartment Theta 5, bored out of our minds. It would be pure luck if something actually-
An alarm goes off throughout the site, a containment breach. Oh... Never mind. Carson looks at me, "Do you think we will be needed?" "I hope so, I'm bored out of my mind!" I state. Our radios buzz to life. Speak of the devil.
We pick up our radios and listen, "This is a message from the O5 Council. Report to Dr. Collingwood's office for the escort of Scp 999. We are counting on you." Scp 999? I get that he's well liked, but that's completely random. I sigh and put away my radio. Better not to question it. "Come on, baby bro. We've got orders," I tell him. We walk down the metal hall till we reach her door. We stand by and wait for them.
After a few minutes, the door opens and we see Molly holding Scp 999 in her arms. "Oh hey, bout time you got here," Carson states, upon seeing her. I give her a wave. She sighs, clearly disappointed at our presence. "Well, come on," I say, motioning her to follow us.
The three of us walk down the hallway to the safe room, Molly holding 999 the whole way. I smile and play with 999, he purrs to my touch. After a while, we reach the chamber. We enter and stand in the middle of the room, waiting for the breach to be over.
All of a sudden, the site speaker announces, "On-site nuclear warhead has been activated. T-minus 10 minutes to total annihilation. Please plan accordingly." "Whoa! Did we get lucky or what!" Carson exclaims. "Yeah, I bet!" I say. Finally, something exciting! "What the hell is going on?" Molly asks, confused at what she's just heard.
Gustav rushes into the room, "Dr. Collingwood, what's going on?" Carson looks at Molly and I, "Welp, I can already tell this guy's gonna be really helpful." "Don't be rude!" I tell him. I turn and look at him, "Hey Gustav." "Hi Y/n," he says.
Carson thinks for a second, "So, now we just fire this thing up?" "I suppose so," I say. "No! We have to wait for Lawrence. I'm not leaving without him," Molly states. "Alright," I say. Of course, she wouldn't want to leave without her man. The four of us stand and wait for others to arrive.
After five minutes, the site speaker announces, "T-minus 5 minutes to total annihilation." "Oh my god!" Molly says. "Well, we better start spinning this up," I state. "Ah, and I liked this dimension," Carson says. "Have you been to others?" Gustav asks. I look at him, really? "Mmmh... no," he says in response.
Dr Buck and Director Zolgamax Jones enter the room. "Ah, thank goodness. They haven't left yet," Jones exclaims. "I told you she wouldn't leave without Lawrence," Buck says. Like I said. Gustav asks, surprised, " Dr. Buck, Director Zolgamax? What are you doing here?" "We've all had our turn with 999, we know the protocol. That is the safest way to escape such an unfortunate situation," he explains. "It's a simple jump across dimensions and back," Buck adds. "What about the nuke that's about to vaporize everything?" he asks. "I'm sure someone is on it," Jones states. He walks over to the machine connecting to the dimensional pad. He turns it on and it buzzes to life, all while Gustav seems worried for some reason. I assume it was because of the nuke that's about to go off, so I don't think much of it.
Its screen loads and the dimensional pad activates, loading the destination. Jones speaks, "All right, everyone. We're getting out of here. Now, this machine is very delicate, so-" Before he could finish, Gustav pulls out a gun and shoots him in the back of the head. He falls to the floor, dead.
After shooting him, he points his gun at Carson and I. Instinctively, we hold our hands up. God! Why did we forget to bring our rifles? "Easy there!" Carson exclaims. "Bro, chill!" I yell. Buck is shocked. She puts her hands up, "gasp... No, Gustav put the gun down! What are you doing?!"
He answers, pointing his gun at her, "I'm finishing what I started years ago. Infiltrating the foundation is no easy task, and now I'm about to get what I've waited so long for." "Infiltrating?" Molly asks, shocked. "Yes Collingwood, infiltrating. I've been gathering intelligence for the Chaos Insurgency, helping Scps slip through your fingers. Why do you think I ask so many questions?" he states. "I thought because of curiosity," I say. To be honest, who wouldn't have questions about the Scps we have in containment? There's like over 6,000 or something! Buck thinks differently, "I thought it was because your head is full of rocks."
She steps a little closer to Gustav. He shoots her in her left shoulder. She falls to the ground, clutching her shoulder in pain. Real smart, Buck. Sassing the madman with the gun. He laughs manically, "Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! Do you know how long I've waited to do that? Years! Don't worry Buck, you'll still be alive when the nuke goes off." She struggles to speak, holding her shoulder in pain, "ga... thanks.. Huff..huff."
He walks over to Molly, pointing his gun at her. "Gasp! Let's talk about this, Gustav," she says, nervously, not wanting to get shot. At least, she's smart. He states, "What is there to say? I'm taking the son of the Scarlet King away from you demented people." Son of the Scarlet King! The Scarlet King, the most dangerous entity ever, is 999's dad?! Scp 999 becomes visibly sad. Poor guy.
He continues, "Yes, I know the foundation's little secret. I know everything. 999 has a big role to play in the coming storm." He grabs him from her and walks to the machine in the room. "Where are you taking him? You should think very carefully about what you do next, Gustav!" Buck states. "I'll leave you people to your own destruction," he types on the control panel. "You won't be following me." He smashes the console, instantly destroying it.
The door opens and Lawrence finally enters. Better late than never, man. He fires his rifle at Gustav and he gets hit in the shoulder. He falls to the ground, dropping 999. He runs towards Buck. Lawrence hurries over to Molly, "Molly, I'm here." "Lawrence, what the hell was all that?" she asks, still shocked at what she just went through.
The machine, though demolished, finishes loading its destination. "Three, two, one. Goodbye." There's a bright white light that blinds us. When it's gone, we're standing in a grassy field, outside of some site. "Hey, anyone else feel..uh... different?" Carson asks. Uh oh! I got a bad feeling about this.
