Okay but like, why has this story gotten so many reads already. We aren't even in season 2 yet-
As we were walking, I finally forced myself to let go of the arrow. If I did break it, then I'd be stuck with one less arrow and I was already on a limited supply as it is.A loud scream sounded from Ezran. We all turned around and saw him clutching tightly, a green Bait. His eyes were tightly closed. "Ez, what's wrong?!" Callum quickly asked. "I.." He pointed his finger forward with his eyes remaining shut.
"I saw something. A face in the dark." We all went over to check, Rayla took out her blade. I left my bow alone deciding I'd have time to take it out if there was danger. Rayla unclicked her blade when we analyzed that there was no danger.
"Something's watching us." Ava had her lead lifted up with her ears folded back. Ellis was glancing around. "If you guys want to turn back-" "No! There's no turning back." Callum interrupted. "We have to keep going, no matter what. The egg doesn't have much time." Callum turned away.
I only just noticed that Rayla was clutching her arm, which was growing even more purple. We continued to walk in silence, I felt we were just trying to be alert for danger most of the time. This is what that silence seemed like, it was better than one of those awkward silences.
We stumbled upon a large mass of cobwebs blocking our path. Rayla looked up letting out a small hum while analyzing the situation. "Can't you just cut through it?" Callum asked. "Probably better if we can go around." She replied.
Ava walked to our sides and started sniffing, upon no luck she let out a whine. "I don't think there is an "around." We need to punch through." Rayla took a deep breath and then wearily pushed the tip of her blade into the cobwebs. She pulled it out, a disgusted look washed over her face as she saw the end of it covered in the cobwebs.
"All right. Let's find out what made this."
Rayla sliced through the cobwebs allowing us to walk through. Walking down the trail, we found it to have cobwebs scattered around. They'd be easy enough to avoid if we were to pay attention on where we walked.
"Be careful." Callum reached his hand out just about to touch one of the webs. Rayla quickly grabbed his wrist and stopped him. "Do not touch those webs!" She announced. I walked up to Callum and saw him looking worried.
"Wouldn't want you getting stuck and then getting slowly eaten alive by a giant spider." I spoke, it was followed by a small snicker. Callum seemed even more traumatized and decided to keep his hands at his sides.
It took about a minute of wearily walking through the trail before someone spoke up. "Ugh, they're everywhere. It's too dark!" Ezran said. I had to agree, it was a little difficult too see.
Ezran let out a yelp, we all turned around and saw a giant purple spider with the ends of it's legs being a lime green. Callum quickly stepped up and started to draw the lightning symbol in the air.
"Fulminis!" He shot the spell and then the spider was gone. Callum quickly looked around, bringing his arms and legs up and if scared of finding the spider on him. "Ah! Did I get it? Where'd it go?" He started rubbing his head. "I feel like it's in my hair!"
"Really? It's a two-ton magical spider. You'd know if it was in your hair."
"Maybe it laid eggs in his hair." I teased. "Shh.. We need to listen." Ellis said, we all went silent and backed up into a small circle. After a lot of skittering of legs moving around us. The spider jumped down behind us letting out a screech.
We, in turn, let out a small scream and then ran knowing magic wasn't going to work. We fled to two large trees and hid behind them. We all sat there letting out pants as we struggled to properly even our breaths and fill our lungs up with air.
"How are we going to get past that thing?" Callum asked looking over at Ava and Ellis. "Even if we manage to get past, one misstep and we're caught in one of those crazy webs. And trust me, you don't want to know what happens when you get caught in a web." Rayla said, I nodded in agreement.
"There has to be a way. We have to get through." Ezran stood up looking over in the direction of the spider. The spider had let out a variety of screeches. "Wait a second. Something's not right." Ezran spoke as he listened carefully to the loud chittering.
"In a good way, this time!"
"What should we do?" Ellis asked. "We could turn back and find another way up the caldera." She suggested. Ezran laughed and put down Bait. "No, its going to be okay! We can just walk right past it." He pointed his arms past the spider and towards the trail that led up the caldera.
