It was wonderful. The sounds the smell, the environment, the animals, everything was just so beautiful. The rune cube constantly glowed when it was held up to something, it sent an unfamiliar spark of excitement through my body. Everywhere I turned there was some sort of magical plant, rock, or animal in view. Zym seemed to show way more excitement than me as he jumped around and explored as much as he could on the trail.
I felt a large weight suddenly get pushed on my shoulders, I glanced over to see Zym holding on I gave him a smile before glancing down at the rune cube. I walked over to a few plants and held the cube up to them, one of the runes would glow each time and Zym would let out a happy yip when he noticed it.
"Wow, Rayla, this is incredible! Everything here has some sort of magic in it." I commented, while holding up the rune cube to a bush.
"Yup. That's Xadia." She confirmed turning around towards me and Zym. Suddenly my brows furrowed as I got an idea. I knelt down and picked up a handful of dirt. Holding up the cube to the dirt, my eyes widened in shock.
"Magic... dirt?" I muttered to myself, clearly amazed. Just seeing the green rune light up just to the dirt sent another wave of excitement. This new feeling was amazing and almost overwhelming.
"Save some of that googly-eyed excitement for later." Rayla said. I gave a small huff and stood up, dropping the dirt back into the ground. "You're only saying that because you've never seen me this excited about something." I spoke giving her a playful nudge. Rayla just ignored my comment and continued.
"We still have a mission. I'm taking you to my home. The other elves will help us get Zym to the Dragon Queen as fast as possible. And if we get home by dusk, I can show you something special."
"Yeah? What is it?" I asked, putting the rune cube away.
"It's a surprise." She spoke placing a hand on her hip and leaning back on her foot. I was about to say something before Rayla turned aro0und and reached over to picked a purple fruit off of a branch. She crouched down and offered the fruit to Zym. "You're home now, Zym." He let out a chirp before quickly biting into the fruit and eating it.
Zym let out a burp, a purple dust flew out of his mouth. He continued to burp out the sparkly, purple dust, causing me and Rayla to laugh.
As we walked, there was a few patches of purple flowers, they happily moved around as they let out music. I stopped and crouched down to make sure that the music was actually coming from the flower. "It plays... Music?" I asked confused, Rayla turned around glancing at the flower and then me. "Yup. It's a melodaisy." Rayla spoke briefly before walking away. I let out a sigh before quickly walking after her to catch up.
"I'm assuming you've never heard of going slow and steady. You know, there's a human saying, "Sometimes you just have to stop and smell the roses." Or in this case, listen to them." Rayla turned around towards me before placing her hands behind her back.
"Maybe you're right, Zaira. Did you know that there's a Xadian flower with a more fascinating scent than anything in the human kingdoms?" She leaned down and picked up and odd looking flower from the ground before handing it to me.
"Go ahead, stop and smell this one."
I grabbed the flower from Rayla's hand, carefully inspecting it before shooting her a suspicious glare. I leaned the flower towards my nose, I took a quick and careful sniff and nothing seemed to happen. Rayla looked like she was holding back some sort of laughter, definitely not suspicious. I mentally smirked to myself before leaning the flower towards her.
