There was a light, cold breeze blowing through the air, before the two broke out into a fight. Goku let out a yell, grinning widely as he flew at Y/n, his fist cocked. Y/n crossed her arms over her face in a guard, his fist colliding with her forearms. The shock of the collision sent a wave of wind back, Y/n smirking as she pushed herself back.

Pointing her palm at Goku, she fired a barrage of ki blasts, all of which Goku carefully deflected, making sure none flew toward the onlookers. Goku flew at Y/n, the two locking in a close combat fight. Y/n found herself grinning from ear to ear as she fought with Goku, despite her earlier claims about disliking fighting. Perhaps it wasn't the fighting she disliked though, it was her partners. Y/n distinctly remembered enjoying when Goku would train her, he made learning to control her ki fun. When she had begun her real training with Whis, she found herself hating every day, every session, every fight. Maybe Whis was right about her needing this...

Goku huffed, letting out a yell as his aura spiked outward, knocking Y/n back. She grunted, covering her face with her arms as she regained her balance. She looked back up to Goku with furrowed brows, staring in confusion as the man before her pouted.

"C'mon, Y/n, it's no fun if you don't transform." Goku said, which was true, for him. He was having to hold back majorly since she was in her base form. Goku would've rathered her completely overshadow him in terms of strength than him having to hold back. Y/n whined as she crossed her arms, avoiding looking at the pouty Saiyan.

"I don't like transforming. Frieza was just an exception. I kind of... lose control when transformed." Y/n muttered, feeling embarrassed. Unlike Goku and Vegeta, Y/n could not control her power so easily. She found herself getting aggressive and even completely losing control of her body sometimes. Whis had told her she could overcome this, but had to train more before she could reach that point. That was shortly before Y/n returned to Earth, so she hadn't had enough time to train.

"That's all the better. I want to see you go all out, please," Goku gave her the biggest puppy eyes he could muster, his shiny red eyes nearly making Y/n crumble. However, Whis's voice cutting through her thoughts saved her.

"I'd actually advise against that, Goku," He spoke, catching their attention. Y/n smirked, crossing her arms as she stuck her tongue out at Goku, before descending to the ground. Goku sighed, powering down as he followed. Before Goku could even question Whis, the taller man continued. "Currently, Lord Beerus and I are the only ones capable of stopping her, should she lose control. The safest place for her to go all out would be only on Lord Beerus's planet."

"And that means you can't harass me about fighting you," Y/n pointed her finger at Goku, who's lower lip only stuck out in a pout. Y/n crossed her arms, huffing. "I'm ready to return whenever. Shin is still waiting on us, I don't want to keep him waiting."

"Wh-What?" Goku's eyes widened, looking over at Y/n. The reminder that Y/n had come to have feelings for Shin made Goku's blood go cold, his body stiffening. Before, when it was just a competition between him and his son, Goku wasn't very worried or concerned. He didn't feel the need to. But after being apart from Y/n for months, something in Goku felt like it was being stretched thin. He couldn't take the thought of someone else stepping in between them anymore.

Goku's eyes drifted over to Gohan, wondering if Gohan was even aware of Y/n's feelings for Shin. Gohan seemed hardly fazed by Y/n being here, hardly having interacted with her. Goku almost felt bad for Y/n, but Gohan's lack of effort was only helping Goku. Goku furrowed his brows, returning his attention to Y/n as she spoke.

"Why are you surprised? You already knew Shin and I were close, you even saw our fusion," Y/n spoke, placing her hands on her hips. Her eyes widened when she heard Gohan speak up, catching her attention.
