You woke up grinning. You hadn't opened your eyes yet though, maybe the dream could last just a bit longer. Alas, nothing of the sort happened. Uh, why did you always have to forget so quickly? All you wanted was to grasp onto the pleasant feelings left in your head for a moment more.

You clutched whatever you were holding onto tighter. Huh, you didn't remember having a stuffed animal. So, what were you holding?

It felt warm and soft, but not like a person. Begrudgingly, you opened your eyes to check it out.

Wally.

"AHH!" Adrenaline flooded through you and you threw the puppet across the room.

Your eyes were wide and aimed directly at the fallen puppet.

Were you hallucinating? Was this some sick joke? How did this fucking puppet end up back in your bed?

You stayed away from the indefinitely haunted felt plush. You reached for your phone just to find a missed call and voicemail.

Opening it up, you heard the fairly familiar voice of the woman at the front desk, "Hello Ms. l/n, this is the WHRP. The recently retrieved Wally Darling puppet has seemingly disappeared. If you know anything about it's current whereabouts, please contact us and/or bring it back. Thank you for your time, and it is a pleasure to work with you,"

The voice felt automated at your name, which meant it was probably copied and sent to all employees. Well, in this case sent to all puppet thief suspects.

While your first instinct was to 'come clean' (aka admit having the puppet). It didn't seem worth it. Others would lose any trust they had in you and probably wouldn't believe any other story you told. I mean, "The thing just appeared next to me while I was sleeping," didn't seem like the best accusation.

Your only option right now was to keep it until you were able to sneak it back in the building. While you could frame someone else, you'd much rather have it be seen as some innocent mistake rather than kill someone else's credibility.

"Are you alright, neighbor?" You went pale. The life seemed to drain out of you as soon as you heard it.

Your head shot towards the voice. Towards the puppet.

The voice was slow and a bit broken. Words were spoken a bit unnaturally, as if whoever was speaking was just learning to do so. Yet, it still seemed calm and genuinely confused.

"Neighbor?" It was spoken in the same manner, except this time you watched the puppets mouth move to form the word.

Your head felt heavy. It's been alive? For how long? Had it really been watching you this entire time? Was it some robot, or were you going insane? Your mind was in overdrive and you felt your thoughts getting weaker and weaker by the moment. Was- was it a demon?... A-a-a monsterrr... things became less and less coherent. You didn't even realize the puppet stood and was walking towards you. It's a- it's a-... You wanted to faint, and that's just what you did.

"So, how's the story so far? Please someone answer, I really want to hear your thoughts. Also, in regards to Wally's voice, there are multiple (and by multiple, I mean a lot) of recordings of his voice on the welcome home website. To describe it as well as I can, it's unique and super cute. As always vote for more and I'll see you next chapter!"
