PERSONALITY AND CHARACTER ANALYSIS: Arwa Badawi is curious and headstrong. She loves learning new things and wants to use her knowledge to help people. When she is not exploring, she is studying history or writing poetry. Her headstrong attitude might make her a little too stubborn sometimes. Her determination in the face of adversity is helpful, but not when she needs to be cautious, which she is very bad at doing. Her faith in humanity and in her religion is strong, and it guides her in most of her daily life.
CHARACTER ARC: Arwa Badawi was born in Baghdad, Iraq to a loving mother and a loving father. Her mother was a homemaker and her father was a successful merchant. One day, when Arwa was a little girl, she discovered a box of faded diamonds in her parents' attic and showed it to her parents. They told her that they were dangerous for her to play with and forbid her from going into the attic again. This didn't stop Arwa. She kept sneaking into the attic and eventually discovered more items that she continued to collect and keep for herself over the years. She eventually found a journal written by someone called Sindibad, who wrote down tales of his journey across the seas, and became fascinated. She decided to take it with her when she chose to move out and live in an apartment of her own, going to college and working full-time. Her parents helped her pay her living expenses until she graduated and moved to America for a steady job. She lived in Storybrooke. At the end of the journal, she found pictures of Sinbad with her parents and him holding her as a baby, with a note written to them in Arabic that translated, in English, to: "For my little Arwa." She questioned her parents about this and they finally admitted that Sinbad was her distant cousin who had kept trying to get close to the family, but they shunned him because he was involved in dangerous situations. From that point on, she made it her mission to find Sinbad. If he was still alive.
