Midas
I finished the final specs of my newest gun. I walked over to the training room and set up some empty bullets and got ready to test it. The holographic enemies appeared and I quickly shot them.
My gun worked like a charm, quick, and lightweight. Even reloading it was an easy process. I beat many rounds of the holographic enemies with much ease. She was a perfect gun. Everything about her was perfection. I used my gold touch on her for the final step.
My drum gun was perfect.
I heard clapping behind me, and quickly spun around to see Maya. "You finally finished it?"
"Darling! I have." I stepped to her as she stopped the testing mode. I held out the drum gun for her to view. "You can hold it if you want."
Maya carefully took the gun from my hands and held it. "It's lightweight despite it being gold," Maya admired, staring at it. She dragged her fingers across the glinting gold and held the trigger. "You refurbished this, didn't you?"
I smiled mostly to myself. "Of course, I got that when I was a teenage, and Sorana was going to deliver Marigold. My father decided to give it to me to protect the family from Shadow." I lost my smile at the thought of losing my family. "Now, I never knew that Sorana would trade her freedom just to lock me up due to what I did to Marigold."
"Midas."
I looked at Maya.
"Please don't beat yourself up about what happened to your daughter." Maya leaned up towards me and kissed my cheek, standing on her toes. "Easier said than done I know, but still, I know you miss her. She's around you though."
I kissed Maya's head, "Thank you Darling." I took the gun from her and held Maya. "You never fail to comfort me in my times of need."
She wrapped her arms around me back, "Of course love, I will always be there for you." She looked up at me as I looked down at her. "Was I always like this in our other lives together?"
"Oh yes, always comforting." I smiled. "Never a moment when we weren't in each others arms either, especially at night. Always together."
"Nothing's ever going to change that?"
"Nothing's ever going to change that, Darling."
I took a drag on my cigarette, and blew the smoke out. There were clouds in the night sky but still no rain. I stared at the clouds as they moved along the sky slowly. Another drag.
Another drag.
Another drag.
Another drag.
I scuffed out the cigarette and laid back on the roof of The Agency, my hands behind my head. I wondered what Jules was doing, and if she was going to come back. If her device works, then I had to convince her to become Ghost rather than taking over the Island. We could be Ghost together, but again, it was a matter of getting my team to trust her instead of killing her.
I hear some footsteps behind me, and I sat up looking at whomever it was. "Sandstorm? What is it at this hour?" She stepped to me and sat next to me. "Is there something wrong with Maya?"
"No," she whispered. "Maya is okay."
"What is it then? Here to belittle my thoughts again?" I whispered as well.
She made a soft sigh, "No. I came to apologize. I didn't see it as clearly as you, but I'm still upset it's resorted to using a Shadow member to help you achieve your goals." I looked at her as she put her knees to her chest. "Perhaps you're right, maybe she can be one of you. A Ghost."
