QUESTION OF THE DAY -
Why is it that some people seem to dive deep into life and some just live it half heartedly, either not knowing it's true self or failing to realise that they already know?
To me the answer is some people are accepting and some aren't. I feel every human mind is very curious and it has the nagging feeling to dig into the real meaning of things, understanding it deeply to have a satisfaction of knowing everything there is to know about a certain thing. But to me the real difference lies in acceptance.
Are we ready to accept our fears and work through them?
If you ask me (which you are) I'd say that a lot of us live through our lives half-heartedly because we are too scared. First too scared to explore and then too scared to accept. And God forbid, if our dreams don't align with our family's or society's standards. That is on a whole different level.
When we are kids we are protected, guarded almost and always told what to do and what not to do. But when that is done excessively, we either depend too much on them or become an entire rebel.
And that to me is why some of us are happy even when not successful 'enough' because they have taken the risks they wanted to and some of their risks if not all helped them in one way or the other. That is where it all comes to. Can you live by your choices? Or do you regret them? Do you enjoy them or they just a burden to you? do not talk about the results they yield, but the way they make you feel. People can earn thousands and not be satisfied where as some people can earn just enough to make it through and still feel happy within. And this isn't to say that money isn't important. It very much is. Nothing in today's world comes without it but it isn't everything.
You can never buy satisfaction or peace with money.
Anyway, moving on the point is you have been given this life not to prove to anyone what you're capable of but to be happy. To thrive for yourself. People's expectations don't get to be your dreams. People's wishes for you don't get to dictate your life but once it starts doing it all goes downhill. You're fortunate enough if your dreams matches the 'standards' set by the society but if it doesn't you'll need to fight. And I am not talking about some petty matters but real issues. Ask yourself the question, once you get the result of what you're marching towards will you be happy because you achieved it? Or will you be happy because you were able to prove yourself. And is your answer is the later ask yourself what will you do after the euphoria washes away which takes only a few minutes if not hours. If you are doing what you are doing for yourself you'll be proud. You'll let the success sink in but if not for yourself then for who?
We like to say some people are blessed. They are lucky and no doubt some people are extremely lucky. They are very fortunate, very privileged but that doesn't dry out your talents, your skills. You are here with them. Your path can seem impossible, can be mocked on but it is still yours to determine. You'll always find yourself at crossroads. You will always have to choose but what matters is the path you choose, who you choose, what you choose and why you choose.
Don't worry about how you'll navigate through it because you successfully will, mind you maybe not easily but surely. Until them of course do not give up.
But all of this comes later on. The first step is to admit if you aren't happy where you are. The next step is to let that sink in and then to accept it as it is. From there on, you can go on hunting what you really want. But at least let go of what you do not. You don't need to have a full plan but you have the will to try, the confidence to begin, the perseverance to continue and the strength to endure.
