?Chapter 16?─ Eyes don't lie.

He finally stopped, still holding the girl's hand as he looked up, as if he was searching for something. Tsu'kida followed his sight and then heard him call. Two wings showed at the top of the tree and a loud scream was heard as the creature jumped down and flew towards them.

As soon as the Ikran landed in front of them, the Metkayina looked to the side, scared, as her grip on Neteyam's hand tightened. The Ikran opened its wings and that scared her even more. She was just about to start running when Neteyam got in front of her to cup her face, making her look straight into his eyes.

─ Do you trust me? ─ he spoke softly with a small smile in his lips, receiving a nod from the girl. ─ It won't hurt you, I promise.

Tsu'kida stood in place as Neteyam approached the Ikran, getting to its side to start petting its head gently. He then returned his gaze to the girl, getting a hand out towards Tsu'kida, asking her to take his hand and approach his banshee. She hesitated for a few seconds, but then sighed as she walked forward to take his hand, letting him guide her towards the creature as it kept its eyes closed from the petting.

─ Just don't look straight into his eyes... ─ Neteyam said softly as he looked into the girl's eyes, receiving a nod from her.

The Ikran finally opened his eyes and Tsu'kida quickly moved her head to a side, scared of what could happen if their eyes connected, but she was surprised when she felt the Ikran rubbing his head carefully on her shoulder. She returned her gaze to the Ikran, seeing it had closed its eyes. She reached out to pet it, her touch being instantly accepted by the banshee, which started to lean now on her hand. Tsu'kida looked at Neteyam with a smile to notice he had been staring at her with the brightest smile this whole time, making her own wider.

─ It's weird for a banshee to do this with other Na'vis... ─ he finally spoke in a low tone as he looked at his ikran in awe. ─  I think he likes you a lot. ─  and the smile returned to his lips.

─ Well, in that case, I like him too. ─ Tsu'kida said softly as she pet the Ikran with both hands now.

─ Do you want to look around for a bit? ─  he said as he took a step back, still watching the girl's movements.

─ Mhm. That sounds nice. ─ She said as she turned back to look at Neteyam while her hands slid down the Ikran's face.

The Ikran looked at her as if he was asking for more pets, which made Neteyam laugh softly. Tsu'kida turned to it and pet it again, this time not waiting for him to look away as she got more comfortable around him.

─ Let's go then. ─  Neteyam said as he jumped on his banshee, quickly receiving a look from Tsu'kida.

─ Wait you mean flying? I don't... I don't think it's a good idea, I-

─ Oh, come on! I would never let you fall, okay?

Neteyam looked straight into her eyes, waiting for a response from her as Tsu'kida fought herself internally to not just jump straight into his arms, a debate between her newly discovered fear of flying and how in love she was with the boy that now had his hand out for her to grab and the most excited look in his eyes. She sighed as she took a step towards him and her hand touched his, a smile appearing instantly on his lips as he helped her up to sit in front of him.

As soon as the Metkayina was sat comfortably Neteyam leaned forward, reaching for the ikran's tswin to make the tsaheylu. As he leaned back up and sat in position he slightly buried his face on the girl's shoulder, leaving a sweet kiss on it as a few braids fell to the front and onto her chest. Tsu'kida then turned her gaze towards him, allowing him to finally see the terrified look she had on her face. Neteyam's gaze softened at the sight and contained a small laugh, using the moment to his advantage to give the girl a small peck on her cheek and reach for the Ionar he had gifted her, taking it from her satchell to place it on her. Her expression finally changed into a smile and she turned away, meaning he had done just the right thing and he was finally allowed to laugh as he put his own Ionar on.
