Attack of the Clones - Episode II

Start from the beginning

The group of us arrived at the Senate building soon enough. We were escorted up to Chancellor Palpatine's office and invited by the man himself to sit down in front of his desk. I allowed my Master to take one of the four seats, opting to stand behind him. And thus, the meeting began.

"I don't know how much longer I can hold off the vote, my friends." I cleared my throat uncomfortably at the words that left the chancellor's mouth. Opting to stay silent, I folded my hands behind me. "More and more star systems are joining the Separatists."

"If they do break away-" My former Master interrupted.

"I will not let this Republic that has stood for a thousand years be split in two. My negotiations will not fail."

"You must understand, Chancellor, that if you do go ahead with the vote to create an army you will effectively be the first to strike." I butted in, feeling every eye in the room land on me. I swallowed my nerves, pressing my hands further together in an effort to stop them from shaking. "We cannot fight a war."

"What my former Padawan is trying to say is that you must realise there aren't enough Jedi to protect the Republic." Master Windu leant forward, resting his elbows on his knees. "We're keepers of the peace, not soldiers." I nodded my head, agreeing with my former Master's words.

"Master Yoda." Chancellor Palpatine called. "Do you think it will really come to war?" Every head in the room turned to the small green Jedi Master, including mine.

"The dark side clouds everything." Master Yoda hummed. "Impossible to see the future is."

Maybe impossible for most to see. I briefly let my eyelids drift closed, focusing on the future of the galaxy. I never liked what I saw. Ruin, evil spreading like a plague. In my mind there wasn't a possible future where we weren't led into a galaxy wide war with the Separatists.

The sound of a hologram starting up interrupted my foresight session. I peeled my eyes open to see a blue hologram of a Rodian speaking Huttese to the Chancellor.

"Good." He replied, nodding his head. "Send them in." He confirmed to the Rodian. The sound of the suite doors opening let me know that our meeting had come to a swift end, with no progress having been made and the Chancellor ignoring my warning. "We will discuss this matter later." The Chancellor dismissed us, standing from his chair.

I noticed Master Windu stayed seated while the rest of the Jedi began to depart. Frowning, I placed my hand on his shoulder to wake him from his trance like state. He was concerned, I could tell. It was unsettling to know that.

"Senator Amidala, your tragedy on the landing platform, terrible." Master Yoda spoke up. I turned, smiling at the Senator and her entourage now standing before us. "Seeing you alive brings warm feelings to my heart."

"My condolences for those you have lost, Senator." I respectfully said, bowing my head in her direction.

"Do you have any idea who was behind this attack?" She questioned suddenly, giving me a sense of whiplash.

"Our intelligence points to disgruntled spice miners on the moons of Naboo." Master Windu answered her question, making his way over from his seat.

"I think that Count Dooku was behind it." Senator Amidala accused. I couldn't help but be fascinated to know why she thought that.
